Blink 182 officially announceSidewaves

Blink 182 have finally (really, actually) announced their Soundwave sideshows.

Following on from not one, but two false starts early this month Tom, Mark and Travis have revealed they will play additional shows at Allphones Arena in Sydney on February 20, The Marquee in Brisbane on February 22 and the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on February 26.

Already confirmed as headliners alongside Metallica and Slayer at Soundwave Festival next year these will be the first gigs that Blink have played in Australia since 2004, after which they went on an “indefinite hiatus.” Since their emotional reunion in 2009, triggered by drummer Travis Barker’s near-death experience in a plane crash, the band has released new album, Neighborhoods, which FL described as, “Blink 182 how they should sound now.”

Reviewing their comeback show in Manchester, Hive Magazine concluded: “They ended on a 3-song encore and the crowd screamed at the top of their lungs for one more song. There was a great sense of nostalgia and Blink 182 proved that they still have what they’ve always had. “

Recently FL went in to bat for the pop-punk heroes, defending their 1999 cross-over hit Enema Of The State. Check it out here!

All Ages - but aren't all the kids who listened to them in their misguided youth now hitting their 30's?

This is totally relying on the youngsters to buy tickets.

Most of the people old enough to have seen them when they last toured never want to see them again.

I would rather pour gasoline in my eyes than see them again.

Fully aware of every live review going around but still want to see them at SW sideshow. I have no doubts I'll enjoy rocking out what will be AT LEAST 50% Enema/Dude Ranch/Self Titled/TOYPAJ

saw them with sparta, sparta were more exciting and that's saying something as they aren't that lively live.

what is wrong with it, too big? yes i realise they aren't some revolutionary band. everyone knows what blink are and what you get from them. would like the opportunity to see them live once and reminisce

To be honest I prefer Allphones to the SEC as far as big arenas go.

It's not that they aren't revolutionary, it's that when I saw them they were bad and played their songs badly and a bad time was had by all.

But by all means go see them. Allphones is better than SEC and SFS in my opinion.

What is the Sidney Myer Music Bowl like as a venue?
I was only able to secure lawn tickets.... what is the deal with the standing area being behind seating!?
