Bob Mould ‘Copper Blue’tour
Thu 4th Oct, 2012 in Local News
Bob Mould will tour Australia in March 2013 playing Sugar’s classic 1992 album Copper Blue in full, plus a “healthy dose of Hüsker Dü” and solo tunes including tracks from his new album, Silver Age.
Copper Blue was a huge success for Mould, far eclipsing the sales for his earlier band, Hüsker Dü. As well as spawning four singles – ‘Changes’, ‘Helpless’, ‘A Good Idea’ and ‘If I Can’t Change Your Mind’ – the album was awarded “Album Of The Year” by NME ahead of REM’s _Automatic For The People, Spiritualized’s Lazer Guided Melodies, The Lemonheads’ It’s a Shame About Ray, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Henry’s Dream.
The album was re-released earlier this year accompanied by a companion EP, plus B-sides, a complete 1992 live show and 40-page booklet. Mould also released his autobiography See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody last year covering his early years in rural New York, his years as a successful rock star, and his struggles with addiction.
Mould was also honoured with a tribute concert in Los Angeles last year with Dave Grohl, Ryan Adams, Craig Finn of the Hold Steady, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Grant Lee Phillips and No Age all taking to the stage to play Hüsker Dü, Sugar and solo Mould songs. Grohl told the audience that Mould’s albums had really shaped his approach to the guitar, inspiring him as much as the Beatles and Led Zeppelin: “He’s a real hero of mine and a real American icon.”
