Harvest sideshows for Beck,Mondo Cane
Fri 28th Sep, 2012 in Local News
Beck Hansen (not to be confused with Hanson Hanson) will play one sideshow only when he returns to Australia to headline November’s Harvest Festival.
Despite speculation (by us) that he’d be playing in Adelaide, Beck will be performing at the Sydney State Theatre on November 14. His latest “album”, Beck Hansen’s Song Reader, a collection of 20 pieces of sheet music, will be released in December. He recently collaborated on a track with Californian beat-maker Flying Lotus, which will be released soon.
In other Harvest sideshow news, Mondo Cane – Mike Patton’s ’60s Italian pop project – will perform one show only at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on November 12. The project finds the Faith No More/Fantomas frontman paying homage to Italian songwriters from the 1960s. “My purpose in revisiting these pieces,” he explains, “is not to relive the past, not for nostalgia, but more to illustrate through modern and adventurous interpretation exactly how vital and important this music still is.”
Other acts performing at this year’s include Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, Ben Folds Five, Santigold, Beirut, Cake, The Dandy Warhols and The War On Drugs. The festival will take place in Melbourne (Werribee Park on November 11), Sydney (Parramatta Park on November 17) and Brisbane (Riverstage on November 18).
