Soundwave 2013 third lineuptoday

Update – The 3rd Soundwave Lineup:

Killswitch Engage
The Vandals
Orange Goblin
The Sword
Chelsea Grin
The Chariot
Sharks
Dr Acula
O’brother
Northlane
Milestones

The third Soundwave Festival lineup will be revealed at 3pm today Friday, September 21 with Millencolin and Sharks both expected to join the already sold out festival lineup. Festival boss AJ Maddah has said that the announcement will feature “1 or two sizeable bands”

Just hours before the expected announcement Millencolin have posted a photo on their Facebook page with the suspiciously timely caption “Should go back to Oz soon too… Soundwave Festival”. The Swedish punks last visited Australia in 2011 with the Soundwave festival tour and played co-headline Sidewave shows with Pennywise.

Coincidentally English punk crew Sharks, who were due to support Pennywise’s cancelled tour last month, have already been inadvertently announced as part of Soundwave’s third lineup announcement. The leak came via “a fuck up” by Maddah on Twitter. Maddah has confirmed that Pennywise will tour Australia soon promising “new dates and VERY special guests tba shortly”. It’s unclear whether the other support act booked for the tour – The Menzingers – will be still be part of the Pennywise tour or if they’ll join Soundwave festival bill, but Maddah has also promised that they’ll also tour soon.

A third announcement for the festival wasn’t in the festival’s original plans but just prior to the second lineup announcement Maddah revealed that two of the metal bands pulled out “til further notice… Til they sort some things out.”. He also noted that a third announcement was necessary as “The Vandals haven’t confirmed yet”. Maddah has also announced that Sydney metal crew Northlane will play on “a couple of the dates”.

Likely third Soundwave announcement:

The Vandals
Millencolin
Sharks
Northlane
+ two metal bands

Although the presence of Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer on the lineup has led to speculation that Megadeth could join the lineup to complete the Big Four Maddah has declared that “this is not a big 4 gig.” Other bands that have been ruled out for the third announcement include Green Day, Deftones, and Anvil.

We go behind the Soundwave line-up to present a definitive guide to everything you need (and don’t really need) to know about next year’s Soundwave.

People speculating that Slayer will be on the line up after they have been announced sound like they wouldn't be any fun in Vegas. :D

Yeah, but you hear that particular voice in your head every time a tour gets announced, heavy-rock related or not.

I really hope its the Vandals. Last time they were here was in to support Pennywise and Sum 41, and they literally had to "tone down" their stage antics because of the underage kids there for Sum 41. Thats balls.

yes, i'm a male. people tend to ridicule slayer for the fact they still play as fast as they did thirty years ago at their current age. i see this as a stupid perception, because most poeple who i have come across accusing slayer of being "boring" or "slow" on stage are the ones who's bands they enjoy are current market bands/artists or no longer exist or still exist but can not play half as good as they were once capable haha. slayer still play a briliant show. i've seen them three times and none of these times have they let me down in speed, aggression, timing and sound. if a band ages, it may show in their appearance but not always in their music. i hope i'm still playing as fast as kerry when i hit my fifties....

I like Slayer heaps. Have to admit that Tom does struggle though.

he has a bit of a struggle vocally, of course. but the heart and effort is still there and be felt.
