Gypsy and The Cat tour

Gypsy and The Cat are set to release their new album The Late Blue on October 19 and to celebrate the launch they’re heading out on tour.
The band’s debut Gilgamesh was acclaimed by triple j listeners as one of the Hottest Australian Albums of All Time and saw the band joining the lineups at Big Day Out, Future Music Festival and Splendour in the Grass. They even scored the support set on Kylie’s Aphrodite tour!
The Late Blue was produced, written and recorded entirely by Bacash and Towers and then mixed by Dave Fridman (MGMT, Flaming Lips, Tame Impala). “We’ve been listing to Talking Heads and Pink Floyd,” singer Xavier Bacash recently told the Telegraph. “That ‘yacht rock’ thing was everywhere … Everyone was inundated with it. We spent a lot of time trying to forge a new sound. We’ve moved forward – to the ‘60s. The ‘80s thing has been washed away.” The band’s other member Lionel Towers (the gypsy to Bacash’s cat?), says that “There’s a little bit of world [music] influence in it. It’s definitely different to the first album in many ways – there’s lots more major chords … I think [on this album] we needed to do something a little more ‘left’ than the first album.”
According to the advance word, the duo’s second album features “dreamscape ballads with washed out melodies, driving tom-fuelled rock with dance-floor highs, to lazy Nordic grooves with cascading Moogs and liquid tones”. The first glimpse of the new record is the preview track ‘Sorry’.
The five date Australian tour will be the only chance to see the band this year before they head off on another global trek.
