Harvest sideshows: GrizzlyBear, The War On Drugs, Beirut

Grizzly Bear, The War On Drugs and Beirut have all added sideshows to their Harvest festival tour plans.

Sydney will be treated to headline shows from all three acts, while fans in Melbourne (who already have two chances to see the Harvest acts) get shows from both The War On Drugs and Grizzly Bear, and Beirut stops in to play a date in Adelaide. The fans in Perth and Adelaide have already been rewarded with Harvest sideshows for Ben Folds Five and Sigur Ros. Bad luck if you’re hoping for any Harvest sideshow love in Brisbane, Canberra or Alice Springs.

As Grizzly Bear have a new album out next week and The War on Drugs will be making their debut visit so Australian fans will get to hear the bands playing songs here for the first time, while Beirut will be on an encore tour for 2011’s The Rip Tide album following a tour earlier this year.

Beirut sideshows:

Monday, November 12 – Her Majesty’s Theatre, Adelaide
Wednesday, November 14 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney

Grizzly Bear sideshows:

Monday, November 12 – Billboard, Melbourne
Friday, November 16 – Metro, Sydney

The War On Drugs sideshows:

Tuesday, November 13 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Thursday, November 15 – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney

Obligatory "Where's sideshows for BAND I LIKE"?

So basically what I'm saying is where's sideshows for SSPU? I know you can hear me from hear, Harvest!

Any slim chance of Mondo Cane in Melbourne?

Can't commit a full day at Werribee for one set.

I'm *thinking SSPU might be trying to convince AJ to let them do sideshows in most capital cities, if not all.

Based on recent interviews it sounds like they want to do some proper shows this tour as well as Harvest shows.

You can't think of a single other band you would want to see apart from Mondo Cane? Really?

agreed but its pretty shit how they've basically given underage fans of grizzly bear of whom there are plenty literally no chance to see them on this tour

Literally no chance? Did you think we might think you meant metaphorically no chance?

Oh, just saw this is organised by Handsome Touring and not Harvest Presents. Interesting...

Johnny Jewel from Chromatics: 'we’re really excited to work with Harvest because they’re being really flexible about us doing our own parties on the weekend. So a lot of people can see us how they want to see us. If they want to see us at the festival, that’s cool. If they want to see us at a sweaty club, they can see that.'

This is the sideshow announcement I'm waiting for..

I went looking for an image of a bear sitting at a picnic table, holding his cutlery, wearing a bib, licking his lips. But I found this instead. You're welcome.

haha the thought of Ed Droste saying this through his effeminate voice makes me laugh. I imagine him doing a little sassy stamp as well.

I love that guy.

No Chromatics Sideshows :(

'WE CAN'T...WE TRIED FOR THE LAST FIVE MONTHS TO BOOK SIDE SHOWS IN AUSTRALIA...BUT THINGS ARE COMPLICATED. WE ARE GOING TO COME IN THE NEW YEAR WITH GLASS CANDY & CHROMATICS AND THROW BEAUTIFUL PARTIES. PROMISE!'

It should be noted Johnny promised Chromatics in '09 and they are only touring 4 years later so the last bit is more likely good intentions than promise..
