Sydney gets cheated once again

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 13th Sep, 2012

pardon the ignorance. but do most acts do headline shows in Sydney around the festival? i would've thought most of them would be on Shore Thing and Field Day but the dates clash. so how does it work?

Jose Cuervo

Jose Cuervo said on the 13th Sep, 2012

I think its like a 1/3 of the acts will play field day, shore thing has Chems DJ + Knife Party + Fedde le Grande.

Bames

Bames said on the 13th Sep, 2012

Finally, something to do on Adelaide on New Years Eve. About time that market was tapped.

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 13th Sep, 2012

but Chem Bros are doing SFD Adelaide right? which is on NYE same night as Shore Thing.

Jose Cuervo

Jose Cuervo said on the 13th Sep, 2012

They will probably do a 7pm set or something, jump on a plane and head straight over for shorething

tyler07

That SFD lineup isn't too bad for $100. Only problem is its in a really inconvenient location and is a mad fuckaround to get to. May end up attending.

that sounds a lot like something Stereosonic would do.therefore i don't like it.

Chems
Booka Shade
SBTRKT
Hot Chip
Scuba
Carl Craig
Maya Jane Coles
Erol Alkan

Hate to sound like a horrid streat teamer but for me, that is definitely worth the $100 price tag.

This year it's going to be on a Saturday too which makes it way more convenient. Hmm, very tempted...

Decent lineup, but the gold coast SFD with van buuren and guetta playing was without doubt the worst festival experience I've ever had.

gumbuoy

gumbuoy said on the 13th Sep, 2012

Eww yeah, I just realised the qld leg is the ol' GC. Even a full Chem Brothers wouldnt have gotten me to an open air dance festival on the GC. Wouldve flown to Syd or Melb for sideshow instead.

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 13th Sep, 2012

Stafford Brothers + dance festival + the GC. there's something that should be on everyone's bucket list.

If Field Day gets HudMo, SBTRKT, Hot Chip, Disclosure, Aeroplane and TEED (from Falls lineup) I'll probably end up going.

The Great Monkey War

The Great Monkey War said on the 13th Sep, 2012

hmm ok so I wasn't thinking about the fact that Melbourne is on the 1st. Still possible to get Hudmo and Aeroplane I guess. bleh.

Scuba to support Netsky in Brisbane on the 6th of Jan. That would do me. Passing on this lineup.

Hot Chip, Booka Shade and Araabmuzik sideshows would be nice (decent looking triple bill there!).

Gold coast venue sucks but Carl Craig, Scuba, Hot Chip, Aeroplane, Erol, Hud Mo, Maya Jane Coles and Booka Shade for a hundge is pretty damn good.

why is anyone talking about acts heading to field day, sfd & sd is run my future entertainment & field day is by fuzzy, only very rarely (and i think it's only happened once or twice for these festivals) would two separate touring companies "share" artists...

Jose Cuervo

Jose Cuervo said on the 14th Sep, 2012

Im pretty sure that Future and Fuzzy combine for SFD and have for years

Daft Punks Lip Sweat

Daft Punks Lip Sweat said on the 15th Sep, 2012

You're an idiot. The majority of dance acts coming over the new year period are shared between Falls, Field Day, Summadayze & Summafieldayze. This has been the case for many years.

Patrick Holmes

Patrick Holmes said on the 16th Sep, 2012

if they're sharing with falls, then hopefully they will book some of their best dance acts. i mean, there are meant to be another 40+ bands to go. keen!

lanesra23

lanesra23 said on the 17th Sep, 2012

Noting that Chase & Status and Netsky are both missing from this line-up (in NZ for R&V over New Years).

lanesra23

Daft Punks Lip Sweat

Daft Punks Lip Sweat said on the 17th Sep, 2012

Knife Party also missing (not that I care) which is rather puzzling seeing as how the Gold Coast collective would lose their shit.

tyler07

tyler07 said on the 17th Sep, 2012

I wouldn't be surprised if Knife Party or somebody of equal size will get added like Justice did last year. Although the lineup does look smaller than last year and the cost reflects that so maybe they won't. I dunno, still trying to decide whether I want to go or not.

old_mate_herb

old_mate_herb said on the 17th Sep, 2012

nothing really standout on this lineup. glad as a westsider i have origin to look forward to instead over nye.

chase & status [dj set] – australian exclusive performance
knife party // gaslamp killer // shockone // gemini
pearson sound // dmz (coki & mala) // goldie // ben ufo // brookes brothers // ed rush // pariah // wilkinson // marky & stamina// skism
sigma // delta heavy // xxxy // new york transit authority // dillinja // inspector dubplate // metrik // jakes // dodge & fuski // dc breaks // mensah // bar9 // distance // dark sky // om unit

and im pretty sure that is only the first day announcement.

Bumping regarding Adelaide set times.

What the dilly o?

You would think they exist, since it is three days away and popular dudes like myself have to stack up their New Years Celebrations? If this happened in any other state the entire internet would be redlining.

summerdayze has kimbra instead of two door that's the only difference and i'd be cut if i had to see some indie hacks instead of her, glad i'm going to summerdayze.

longorange

Why?

Kimbra has played 3-4 Aussie festivals over the last year. TDCC are international and haven't played here in a while. Would much rather see them than Kimbra again, and again, and again.
