Led Zeppelin counting down tobig announcement?

It’s been a long time – a long and lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time – since there was any news from the Led Zeppelin camp. But something seems to be stirring with the band posting a series of cryptic status updates to the 6.5 million fans on their official Facebook page.

A post featuring the word “five” written in the same font used on 1973’s Houses of the Holy album initially prompted fanciful speculation that a Zeppelin V could somehow be in the works. However, more reasoned rumours suggest that a five-year anniversary DVD release of Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion shows could well be on the way. According to NME that theory was backed up by a tweet from Jimmy Page’s manager:

Those rumours, however, have been scotched by the band’s most recent status update – a gold “four” in the font used for the band’s 1971 album, IV. Presumably we can expect to see “three”, “two”, and “one” posts in the fonts used for the band’s first three albums in the coming days. But then what? A reissues series? A new rarities release? Another live reunion?

While we’re waiting for Nui Te Koha’s take on the rumours, a live reunion from the band would fit in with the plans for the One Great Night On Earth festival. Project director Lyndel Moore told FL back in April that she was working with the London booking agency that put together the Led Zeppelin reunion at the O2 Arena in 2007. She promised that the festival lineup would feature some “amazing players” who haven’t been seen in Australia for many years. The festival’s social media team has posted several photos of Robert Plant and the band in recent weeks, but surely that was just innocent fandom, not a tease about the lineup, right?

In related news (pun intended) the tour from late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham’s son, Jason and his “Led Zeppelin Experience”, which had been scheduled to kick off this week, has mysteriously disappeared from venue listings. Make of that what you will.

A DVD of the reunion concert will go down very nicely, thanks.

Definitely will be the DVD thing.

Something like 9 million people applied for the 18k tickets to their reunion show in '07. Something tells me a gig of that magnitude might be a bit above OGNOE's head...

Could easily just be a reissue of their first five albums as well.

I could do with a few of their LPs.

My friend sold me the most warped vinyl of Led Zeppelin Four. I was a bit pissed after being told how perfect the quality of it was...

From One Great Night On Earth:
A message to the masses from HQ: we're pippin' the media at the post with this one (snort)............Led Zeppelin have not performed as a group since their reunion at the 02 Arena in London in 2003. John Bonham is hittin' them hard in drumming heaven and the three surviving members all have their own side projects. Just sayin'.

Were the Led Zeppelin Reunion shows in 2007 just holograms?

The guy running FB is cleary confusing going to a Led Zeppelin reunion with going to the movies to see LOTR: Return of the King.

To be fair it's an easy mistake.
