Listen: New Violent Soho‘Tinderbox’

Violent Soho recently spent some time at Melbourne’s Birdland Studios with Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S Howard, Magic Dirt) – and the product is an urgent new single called ‘Tinberbox’.

Forgoing the studio sheen of 2008 debut We Don’t Belong Here, which was produced by Gil Norton (The Pixies) at Rockfield in Wales, the band’s sound is grittier this time ‘round, trading in loud-soft-loud dynamics and frontman Luke Boerdam’s impassioned yell.

The song was written a few weeks after Violent Soho’s largest tour in America. “After a straight year of touring I found myself back in Brisbane living at my parents place with no idea what was going to happen to the band, or my life in general,” Boerdam told FL. “I guess it’s about the band.”

Out digitally today through iTunes, ‘Tinderbox’ is the first single from a forthcoming double a-side 7”. The band recently joined the likes of DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club and Snakadaktal Club at Melbourne indie I Oh You. They’ve spent most of the year bunkered down in Brisbane, writing demos for their third LP, which is planned for a 2013 release.

I liked the first 3 minutes and 54 seconds.

The last second is a massive let down, I feel they had such a build up and could have closed stronger.

Still a solid track though.
