Maddah on Soundwave 2013lineup: "I would be amazed ifit does not sell outinstantly"

The Soundwave festival lineup for 2013 will be unveiled tomorrow morning at 7.40am and festival boss AJ Maddah is pretty darn confident that he has put together something very special for us.

On Twitter earlier this week Maddah boldly announced, “I would be amazed if Bris/Syd/Melb do not sell out instantly… Honestly [I think Sydney will sell out in] under an hour.” For any mathematicians playing along at home that’s 50,000 tickets in less than 60 minutes.

Maddah said last week that the first announcement for the festival will feature 54 acts, although he claimed that “it’ll probably blow out to 60” by tomorrow morning. Several bands including Blink-182, Cancer Bats, The Chariot, Of Mice and Men and Stone Sour have already been announced for the lineup.

Tickets for Soundwave 2013 will be $187. There is no transaction fee or postage this year, but there’s a transport levy of $2 if you’re heading to the festival in Perth or Sydney which covers your public transport to and from the event.

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale next Wednesday 15th August and if there are any tickets left after the presale, they will go on sale a week after that. There’ll be a four ticket max for presale which will be staggered over several days for punters in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Adelaide and Perth presales will be same day. There’ll be a two ticket max for the general on sale.

While it’s a little early to start thinking about Sidewave shows Maddah has already (unsurprisingly) ruled out the possibility of any sideshows in Perth or Adelaide. However he has announced that there’ll be “some legendary sideshows” and confirmed that Blink-182 will be playing at least one Sidewave show.

Soundwave 2013 dates

Saturday 23rd February – Brisbane
Sunday 24th February – Sydney
Friday 1st March – Melbourne
Saturday 2nd March – Adelaide
Monday 4th March – Perth

That "best of Soundwave" playlist doesn't contain any Foxy Shazam. It doesn't deserve to be called "best of Soundwave".

I've got a bad feeling we will be at eastern creek again......

Oflick said on the 7th Aug, 2012

Sydney has only stayed at any one venue for two years. If the venue isn't new this year the pattern will be broken.

cockatoo island it is then...

Unless Metallica or AC/DC are playing I don't see it selling out that quick

Oflick said on the 7th Aug, 2012

Green Day and Pearl Jam were both rumoured. They could help it sell out almost instantly, maybe? Only other possibilities I can think of (even if they were both ruled out).

Too lazy to do research, were Offspring confirmed anywhere?

hellboy1975 said on the 7th Aug, 2012

Apparently Triple M confirmed Offspring today. Not sure how true it is, but wouldn't be a huge surprise.

Immature and less Slipknot than I thought, but it made me laugh:

did anyone ask aj if the cure were a chance?

Oflick said on the 7th Aug, 2012

They wouldn't fit in at Soundwave.

oompa-loompa1357 said on the 7th Aug, 2012

bitch the cure would fit in better at soundwave than fucking blink 182

ZePpLiNs666 said on the 7th Aug, 2012

From what I remember, there is a suspicious looking gap in Green Day's tour schedule that fits with Soundwaves, so I wouldn't be surprised if they headlined it.
However, if he managed to get Sabbath, that would be bloody marvellous.

I'm really hoping the lineup is awful so I don't want to go. If there are good bands then hopefully sideshows! :) Black Sabbath supported by Kyuss Lives sounds great

jacegalvin said on the 7th Aug, 2012

No they wouldn't.
I'm not saying Blink are better, but they fit in a lot better at Swave than The Cure.

must be close to more bands being confirmed

I wouldn't waste a good Cure set at a festival like SW

I think a lead balloon would go down better with SWs punters
