FL presents The Rubensnational tour

FL Playlisters The Rubens have enjoyed a dream run since dropping their demo My Gun on the interwebs early last year. In less than 12 months they have signed to Sydney label Ivy League, played a packed out set at Splendour In The Grass and have just announced their biggest national tour to date.

To mark the release My Gun as an ‘official single’ (recorded in New York with David Kahne) the band is heading out this September. As our FL reviewer put it last month: “The Rubens present a lick combination of indie rock and blues, performing a tight set that quickly proved why they’re so easy to like. Likening their sound to The Black Keys is fair, but the quintet (they have an extra member live) have crafted their own cocktail of grit, soul and romance.”

I've only seen them once at the Gaelic last year, opening for Kisses. They didn't really impress me then, but I like their recorded material. I'll probably stick around after Bertie's set.
