Soundwave 2013 lineupannouncement updates

THE OFFICIAL SOUNDWAVE 2013 LINEUP HAS BEEN RELEASED

Update: 3rd August
The first round of the Soundwave 2013 lineup will be announced on Wednesday 8th August.

Soundwave festival boss AJ Maddah has announced that lineup, which is due for release by “Mid-Aug”, will feature “about 50 [acts] give or take”. However that will very likely be followed by additional announcements in the leadup to the festival. The final Soundwave 2012 lineup boasted over 90 acts, however Maddah has also announced that “SW13 will see some bands doing long sets” so the lineup won’t be quite as lengthy next year.

Echoing his claims last month that there will be a “5% to 7% rise in concert and festival tickets” with the introduction of the carbon tax, Maddah has also confirmed that tickets for Soundwave 2013 will be more expensive than this year’s tickets. “It will be more expensive,” he revealed. “not sure [how much more] as I can’t remember what tickets were last year. I think they were $140 last year.” Tickets for the festival earlier this year were $155 plus booking fees and postage.

Explaining the difference in the ticket costs between Soundwave and the Warped tour in America (which features a lineup this year including All Time Low, Falling in Reverse, The Used, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Of Mice & Men) Maddah says that “SW headliners cost in the millions in comparison! Warped tour has bands that get paid on average $500 a show and travel/live in vans and buses. also minimum wage is $5/hr in The US. Here we have to pay up to $60/hr for uneducated fucktards to fail at basic jobs. Not to mention that 10% goes straight to Gov in GST [in Australia].”

Check out the bands confirmed, likely or ruled-out for Soundwave 2013

AJ never lets the truth get in the way of a good story!

AJ really is a fuckwit. Such stupid comments, including the fact that after buying my SW ticket for this year it cleared $170, so 'more expensive' has me fucking cringing.

Also, if Blink and No Doubt are the headliners (which I hope they are) he's gonna get so much backlash from metal bogans and retards.

Stage 4 will probably be heavier than usual to try to compensate for Blink-182. I think Linkin Park will be the main headliner, though.

it will be a wall of noise with security hosing over-heated metal heads down with blood

tyler07

tyler07 said on the 19th Jul, 2012

Linkin Park would be lame as shit.

It's also pretty much confirmed that The Offspring and Garbage are playing, isn't it? Are those two big enough to be considered sub-headliners?

Oflick

Oflick said on the 19th Jul, 2012

I don't know, how big are the Offspring these days? I know they headlined in 08, but I think back then they were bigger and Soundwave was smaller.

I didn't know Garbage were that likely, what's been said?

Linkin Park doesn't do anything for me, but it looks like they'll be the main headliner. Unless Blink-182 is going to be the main headliner.

Soudwave has already had Maiden, Queens of The Stone Age Slayer and Mastodon.

It's Nofx or bust.*

*Would just go for NOFX sideshow.

Apparently Orange Goblin are likely, which is good news.

Less bands is definitely a good thing too. Fuck all those short sets.

How could AJ not know how much tickets to his own festival are?

Who is the fuctkard?

01seb

I'm still thinking Green Day could headline it. Would shift a shit-load of tickets too

Oflick

Oflick said on the 19th Jul, 2012

Yeah I'd say Green Day are possible, but I wouldn't consider them all that likely. But what do I know? Nearly every prediction I've made about lineups in the last few weeks has turned out to be wrong.

Black Sabbath, Linkin Park, Blink 182 & The Offspring. - Yep, I can see a reason for ticket price increase...

sweet_sweet_tunes

sweet_sweet_tunes said on the 19th Jul, 2012

I remember when AJ tweeted "there is no way in hell an Australian festival would ever be so stupid to book limp bizkit again" - They ended up playing.

Im hoping some of the old school bands like Kiss, Motley Crue, The Who, Sabbath etc (who he has all ruled out) end up playing.

berlinchair101

berlinchair101 said on the 19th Jul, 2012

AJ has invented a cure for cancer and is hoarding it just to bring Sabbath out.

Retards.

Why is everyone getting so hyped about a possible Sabbath tour... If I wanted to see a bumbling old man singing into a microphone i'd head down to my pops retirement village and watch him on Karaoke day.

I wonder if someone will have a go at him for claiming that the carbon tax is causing his ticket prices to go up by 5-7%. That is clearly an outrageous claim to make.

He also has a go at the GST. Does he not realise that most places have a GST/sales tax? In fact, most places have a rate higher than 10%.

He should also realise that high minimum wages in Australia is what lets people go to so many concerts and festivals. Does he really think the average kid in the USA or UK can afford to go to so many events.

The guy is a complete muppet.

Also saw AJ said no Green Day for Soundwave

@iamnotshouting just know that the ticket price for SW13 will up 5-7%, is it right? I don't mind if the line up worth it, can't wait!

@iamnotshouting
@RifkiBachtiar Nope. It's a 1 off 10th Anniversary SW. Price will be higher for SW13 then back to usual for SW14.
