First two bands announced forMeredith 2012

After twenty years of myth-making and party-starting, Aunty Meredith hasn’t even started to tire. In fact two decades since she first strapped some amps to a flat-bed truck our favourite sherry guzzler “remains unique in both her execution and her appeal; unwaveringly eclectic, unerringly hip and faithfully compact.” And the first two bands to be announced on this year’s Meredith Music Festival lineup are certainly testament to this.

Following on from their recent reunion performance at Dig It Up in Sydney, The Sunnyboys will grace the Super Natural Amphitheatre this December. Cracking smiles on the Friday night with the very best of their very awesome back-catalogue, this performance from the legendary post-punkers will be their first south of the NSW border in 21 years.

And fulfilling the ‘unerringly hip’ component of Meredith 2012 will be this year’s most talked about artist, Grimes. Having blown ‘em away at SXSW and already sitting atop FL’s ‘Best Of the first half’ list with her breakthrough album Visions, glitch-pop darling Claire Boucher will have us all swinging our hip(sters).

How do you get involved in all this Meredith magic I hear you holler? Make sure you ENTER THE TICKET BALLOT which opens today! Subscriber Ticket Ballot ensures the majority of the tickets are firstly allocated to Subscribers, before the rest go on public sale. There’s two rounds (draws) of The Ballot – on or before August 15th for existing Subscribers and August 23rd for newer Subscribers. Ballot winners will be emailed a unique Meredith Key to access the secure Online Box Office and purchase tickets. Again, same price as last year, and the year before: 3 days and 2 nights for $279+bf.

See you in the Pink Flamingo!

Meredith tips from the Hearld Sun:

NEWS on Grimes - not Frank Grimes (another 'Simpsons reference) - but the hugely inventive "post-internet'' Canadian artist, she is playing Meredith Music Festival. Australian rock royalty The Sunnyboys have also been announced and you would bet The Bombay Royale, My Disco, Catcall, Kirin J Callinan, The Twerps, Chet Faker and Dr John are all a good chance too.

Hoping Mikey Cahill wrote that and not Nui. Dr John would be fantastic.

Yeah Mikey. Nui's too busy hyping the Nickelback tour over on Triple M.

Mikey might be loose as, but he's never been one to predict bullshit. Well, as far as I can remember, and I don't remember no good no more. I've heard The Bombay Royale on RRR and they're a supreme fit.
