Snow Patrol acoustic shows

Snow Patrol will be returning to Australia at the end of September for their first Australian gigs since they toured with the V Festival back in 2009.
The band will play just two shows – one in Melbourne and one Sydney – playing songs from their latest album Fallen Empires for the first time in Australia plus older faves. For these stripped back acoustic gigs the band will also be pared back with just singer Gary Lightbody, pianist Johnny McDaid and guitarist Nathan Connolly making the journey to Australia.
It’s an odd tour considering that the bands is touring in stripped back form with a partial lineup for Sunday and Monday night shows, so it could suggest that the band is planning to reintroduce their songs to Australian fans before a larger return early next year. Then again, maybe it’ll be another three years before they return after these dates.
When they last visited us in 2009 FL’s reviewer in Melbourne reported that “Snow Patrol are arguably a much better live band than they are a recorded band. That’s not to put their records down; it’s just to say that the energy and performance they inject into their live show is very impressive.”
Snow Patrol acoustic shows:
Sunday 30th September – Regent Theatre, Melbourne
Monday 1st October – State Theatre, Sydney
Tickets go on sale on Thursday 19th July at 9am AST.
