Blink 182 confirm Australiantour for February 2013

Blink 182’s drummer Travis Barker has announced that his bandmates will be on tour in Australia in February 2013, which suggests that the band will finally be here for Soundwave.

This will be the band’s first Australian tour since 2004 but there one significant catch: Barker won’t be joining Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge on tour.

The news has broken via a post on Barker’s Instagram (which was then posted in the FL forums earlier tonight). The drummer posted a live photo of the band playing at The Eden Project in the UK declaring that he “Had a blast playing” the gig prompting a with the curious name ‘miseryfuckinglovesme’ to post “Hey, there’s this place called Australia that would love to see you guys too…..” Barker quickly replied “Mark and Tom will be there in Feb of next year but with a full in drummer cause I don’t fly. Sorry brotha”

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah, who is also in the UK at the moment, announced on Twitter that he was planning to meet with the band last month. And, for what it’s worth, Triple M reporter Nui Te Koha made his annual Blink tour prediction last week, claiming that the band was a “healthy” chance of making the Soundwave lineup.

Check out all the bands confirmed, likely or ruled out for Soundwave 2013.

If they did manage to get him here by boat, Barker would be shipped off to Christmas Island and be labelled an 'illegal immigrant'
Anyway, it could be interesting to see who takes over his spot if this is true.

So we're getting 2/3 of a band that have been mediocre at best for the last 1/3 of their career, playing a set that will be 2/3 made up of said mediocre new material?

What's the catch?

Maybe they can get the Tupac hologram to fill in on drums?

Not being a huge fan of Blink 182 I have always wondered why so much emphasis is put on barker ? obviously fans would like to see the full band lineupand as band you would prefer to play with the original lineup but he isn't the vocalist and can be easily replaced by a fill in yet so much emphasis is placed on him ? A blink fan care to enlighten me ?

Who will take the drum throne in place of Barker?

Won't be the same IMO

I know lots of people that will loveeeeee this though, despite the likely shitness etc, I will still go with half price Ebay tickets but not likely the full price being asked. And never ever want to go to soundwave

Have you heard or seen the guy play? He's far and away the most talented member of the band.

The only thing worse than Blink live is them live without the one guy who is good at his instrument.

I know they'll be playing all their original songs with Mark & Tom singing and playing them as we all know, but a part of me can't help but be even more "meh" at the whole reunion without the three.

Though fuck, who am I to say some bloke with a rational fear of flying should travel 24 hours just to entertain me.

I'm pretty sure they'd just get a session drummer to learn their current set.

I doubt this will spark a Cheshire Cat/Dude Ranch focused set.

Or, if Travis is a good as everyone says (don't know, don't care), find one of those session drummers who was inspired by him and knows Blinks catalogue back-to-front. Surely there'd be a few of them out there.

Blink were popular before Travis even joined the band, I don't see why the kids are squealing.

Channel V just posted on their Facebook page: "We have a big tour announcement coming tomorrow for an awesome band that hasn't been to Australia for a long time! Stay tuned!"

Blink 182?

EDIT: Just said that it is not Blink related.

But it's not the original lineup with him, and when he joind, IMO, they were fuking terrible. First two albums are the only good two albums.

(awaits the flame)

But really, they turned into a punk boy band when travis joined the band

Cheshire Cat is so shitty. And not in that way that shitty punk albums can be fun and awesome.

Just in the way that a shitty record is the audio equivalent of faecal matter.

Although I fucking love M+Ms and Carousel from Chesire

There is nothing here that could make people hate me:

Enema of the State>Blink-182 and Neighbourhoods>Dude Ranch>Take Off Your Pants and Jacket>Cheshire Cat

Cheshire Cat has Wasting Time on it though. That's an awesome song.

MorningAfterboy

MorningAfterboy said on the 11th Jul, 2012

No, no, no. Silly kids.

Untitled, then Enema, Dude Ranch, Pants, Chesire and then at the very, very bottom of the barrell is Neighborhoods.

@lachlann10 - barker is one of the greatest drummers in modern music - second probably to joey jordison. i agree drummers are usually easily replaced but not barker, it will still be awesome but not the same without him.
