The Pharcyde returns thisAugust
Fri 29th Jun, 2012 in Local News
Back in 2009, the Good Vibrations festival brought a huge hip hop line-up including Q-Tip and revered hip hop icons The Pharcyde. This August, Imani and Bootie Brown (sans Slimkid3 and Fatlip) will return to Australia for four headline shows. The tour is under the banner of celebrating 20 years of ‘Dedicated Pharcyde Delivery’, with a special audio-visual performance planned for the dates.
After making a string of landmark hip hop records, starting with 1992 album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, the L.A. crew has had an often-fractious journey. The guys parted ways in the mid-90s, occasionally coming together for festival appearances, including Rock The Bells across America in 2008.
While Slimkid3 and Fatlip still turn up here and there, this Australian tour sees Imani and Bootie Brown flying the flag. “You know, we’ve had our disagreements obviously, and we went our separate ways because we grew apart,” Fatlip told IGN Music at Rock The Bells back in ’08. “Different perspectives and personalities sometimes don’t mix. But when it comes down to the songs that we wrote and all of that stuff, we’re always going to be able to come together and explode.”
Pharcyde tour dates:
Wednesday 22 August – The Beresford, Sydney
Thursday 23 August – The Espy, Melbourne
Friday 24 August – Fowler’s Live, Adelaide
Saturday 25 August – Capitol Nightclub, Perth
Tickets on sale Monday 2 July
