More acts leaked for Parklife2012

Last week Parklife announced the tour dates for 2012 and almost immediately the lineup started leaking. We’ve already pencilled in dubstep band Modestep, British rapper Labrinth and drum & bass/dubstep act DJ Fresh . Now we can add synthpop duo Chairlift and possibly Canadian house pair Art Department to the list.

Charilift visited us earlier this year on the St Jerome’s Laneway festival tour and the band’s singer, tambourinist and synth player Caroline Polachek has confirmed that they’ll be back in September via Twitter.

FL’s reviewer at Laneway in Melbourne caught their set and raved that Chairlift “have taken a quantum leap as writers, whilst adding a bit of muscle and propulsion to their sound. Taken entirely from [new album] Something their set was a succession of effortless, crisp pop tunes, with Wrong Opinion and Amanaemonesia the first among equals. Polachek’s beautiful, effortless voice and keyboard chops were a constant, and it was a damn shame they were cut so short.”

While the Chairlift confirmation comes direct from the band, the Art Department ‘leak’ comes from a less reputable source – Songkick. The gig listing site did leak the booking of Little Dragon on last year’s Parklife bill, but although many of the site’s listings come from ticketing companies and promoters rather than users it’s not always accurate.

The site has Parklife dates listed for Art Department and although there’s an oddly sequenced show in Switzerland the duo also has the New Zealand show listed on their official Facebook page.

Parklife 2012 dates:

Saturday 29th September – Riverstage and Botanic Gardens, Brisbane
Sunday 30th September – Centennial Park, Sydney
Monday 1st October – Wellington Square, Perth
Saturday 6th October – Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Kings Domain, Melbourne
Sunday 7th October – Botanic Park and Botanic Gardens, Adelaide

"parklife just gets better and better each year. looking forward to the new venue in sydney and from the rumours, looks like we are in for yet another stellar line-up. parklife really has it in the bag for festivals with a well organised and planned event mixed with the best collection of indie and electronic acts of the moment. bring it on!" *

If you steer clear of the mainstage at Parklife, the crowd is actually not that bad.

Seeing Junior Boys at Parklife '09 was one of the Parklife highlights for me.

I just met Thatdude that day and realised that my gf and he knew each other from a Bloc Party show, and he then suggested to see Junior Boys, who then became a very important and iconic band for my gf 'n I and our relationship (and were an awesome live act).

So basically what I'm trying to say is, Thatdude is awesome.

I have to say I quite like the new Passion Pit song. Such a bizarre concept for a band generally liked by kids to be singing about.

I'm sure after a couple more listens I will hate it.

@ Jose - Parklife 2006 was great. Krafty Kuts and Stanton Warriors always make for a great day.

One of 'em just released a solo album called "Matter Fixed".

There's a colab on it with Finley Quaye - lost men of British R&B/reggae/jazz/soul unite!
