Everclear tour

Art Alexakis will finally bring Everclear back to tour Australia in October.

It has been 14 long years since Everclear were last seen in Australia, but it’s hardly surprising that it has taken so long to book in a return tour. The band referred to that Australian visit in 1998, on the back of the Sparkle and Fade and So Much for the Afterglow albums, as the ‘disastour’ because the band nearly broke up on stage in Wollongong, had boots and firecrackers thrown at them and had some of the bands gear stolen.

Alexakis is the only remaining member from the band that tour however since that tour the varied lineups of Everclear have released several more albums. Everclear releases since 1998 include two concept albums about Alexakis’ divorce; two ‘best-of’ collections Ten Years Gone: The Best of Everclear 1994–2004 and 2006’s The Best of Everclear; a covers set The Vegas Years featuring versions of Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy and Hall & Oates songs; and two collections of Everclear reinterpretations – In a Different Light and Return to Santa Monica. Later this year the band plans to release the first album of new material since 2006’s Welcome to the Drama Club.

In June they’ll be headlining the ‘90s retromania of the Summerland tour alongside Sugar Ray, Lit, Marcy Playground and Gin Blossoms in the States, but for the Australian shows the support comes from Sydney’s Strangers (on the East Coast anyway – the Perth support will be announced soon)

Everclear tour:
Wednesday 10th October – Cooly Hotel, Coolangatta
Thursday 11th October – HiFi, Brisbane
Friday 12th October – HiFi, Sydney
Saturday 13th October – HiFi, Melbourne
Sunday 14th October – Capitol, Perth

Tickets on sale Friday 1st June

if you keep posting this kind of shit, it ceases being ironic. please find something other than foreign festivals and reformation tours to post about. there is other good, exciting and new stuff happening in music....

Would attend if Marcy Playground were supporting.

I dare Everclear to play their new album in full, with no older material :)

Wow Headspin makes my

head spin. (get it?!?)

So you're saying for FL to stop posting tour announcements? God help me if The Smiths get back together, that'll really get your panties in a knot.

maybe it's just me then - but i'd have thought there'd have to be hundreds of shows in australia in the coming days, weeks or months that would warrant front page publicity on fasterlouder more than f'n everclear. if i've misjudged the demand or relevance of this cornerstone band, so be it....

and i don't think god him/her/itself could get the smiths back together.

And there are hundreds of other gigs that get more 'front page publicity' on FL in the coming days weeks and months - this is just one announcement. Besides every piece of news is 'front page' news for at least a moment as that's the way the stories get published.

yeah, fair enough. i guess i get all wound up about the "dying australia music scene", then i see tour announcements from god damn everclear, and i think "something's not right here".

it isn't my place to tell you how to run your site - bitchy remarks were just a product of that frustration

Everclear are okay because Christina Hendricks got her first acting role in one of their video clips. So without them, we could never have this:

Got an email from Hi-Fi:

"Just announced: Everclear (USA) + Lanie Lane"

Sadly it's for two separate gigs, not Lanie supporting Everclear. Boo-urns.

They once did an interview on IRC.. yup IRC.. back in the 90's. I admit I was there and had my question asked and answered. Dun recall what it was now.

Still regret not going to see Silverchair/Everclear/Testeagles @ Thebarton Theatre in '96. They played 2 shows as well I think.
