‘Secret’ Yeah Yeah Yeahsshow in Sydney?

Karen O is bringing her “psycho-opera” Stop the Virgens to Vivid LIVE for five nights with a cast that includes her Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase, plus Money Mark, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler from The Greenhornes and The Raconteurs), Sam Spiegel (aka Squeak E. Clean from N.A.S.A.) and Jason Grisell (Bubbles).

The shows run at the Opera House starts on Wednesday 30th May, but the night before that The Flinders in Surry Hills will host a one-off improvised experimental jazz collaboration featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase, local musicians Sophia Brous and Shags Chamberlain and some mysterious “surprise guests”.

The show, which is being advertised on Facebook as Yeah Yeah Yeahs & Australian friends, will also feature your favourite nang-huffing, M83-baiting miscreants Teenage Mothers and Jack Mannix from Circle Pit.

Tickets are $10 on the door.

i'm assuming YYYs have a decent following on this forum? they've produced 3 of the best albums of the past decade, at least 3 of my personal favourites. was overseas when they last toured so yet to see them live so something like this would be awesome.

i had no idea the entire band was part of this opera alongside half of another one of my favourite bands in the Raconteurs. thinking this show would've been worth the entry fee just to see all that talent on stage together!

YYY are surely one of the biggest indie darlings of the 2000s. Fever to Tell and Show Your Bones were both massive indie hits.

YYYs are one of my favourites, loved since I first heard the track Pin, rushed out to buy Fever To Tell
Karen has always reminded me of a young Siouxsie, wish they would do a full tour.

Still says "suprise guests" but it has been updated and changed a bunch of times.

It also now adds "CHARLES BUDDY DAABOUL is a multi-instrumentalist and member of No Art whose brilliant song writing and Sonic Youth esq guitar tones are proving him to be one of Sydney's most exciting new artists." and says " It's not clear whether Circle Pit are playing as a band....or if it's a Jack Mannix solo set. But Jack will let us know really soon."

any word here on the yyy front? if this is not legit then its been a great marketing campaign by brian. the indie kids are gonna be puzzled expecting karen and nick and receiving an "improvised experimental jazz collaboration" instead.
