Groovin The Moo week one wrap:photos and reviews

Groovin The Moo Festival kicked off in Bendigo on the weekend where Andrew WK was showered with bottles, Public Enemy performed a moving tribute to MCA and The Maccabees proved hey were well and truly well worth the wait.

FL was out and about capturing all the GTM action including sideshows from City and Colour, Andrew WK and The Getaway Plan.

Groovin The Moo Bendigo review

Real hip hop is here, baby!” So was the announcement that Public Enemy were about to hit the stage. What followed the announcement was a considerably lengthy introduction, including a bizarre march and dance courtesy of the two military clad men, lots of long winded call and response with the crowd and an extended dedication to Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who had passed away the day before.

Andrew WK Melbourne sideshow review

It was absolute chaos. Within 20 seconds the stage was literally overflowing, and every person up there was out of their minds. The keyboard podium was swarmed, shirts began to come off and the crowd-surfers got to work right there on the stage.

City and Colour Melbourne sideshow review

There were no showy theatrics or gimmicks from the band (though Jurvanen kept the electric guitar moves alight on numbers like As Much As I Ever Could), just a demonstration of solid musicianship and more or less flawless vocals.
