Robyn, Dandy Warhols, Dead CanDance and D.M.C touringAustralia this year
Mon 7th May, 2012 in Local News
We haven’t seen Robyn in Australia since way back in 2008 when she visited us to play at V Festival but now she has finally announced on Twitter that she’ll be returning to touring Australia later “this year”.
She was expected to return in 2010 for Stereosonic but was forced to cancel that visit due to a scheduling issues so perhaps she’ll be back on the festival’s lineup later this year. Stereosonic has just confirmed the dates for its 2012 shows in November and December and, as our mates at inthemix have reported the lineup so far includes headliner Tiesto and French electro maestro Gesaffelstein.
“@timduggan: Just doing my weekly check of @robynkonichiwa’s Twitter to see if she’s announced an Australian tour yet.” Don’t give up on me!

this year “@gemmasauruss: @robynkonichiwa please Robyn come to Australia or tell me when you coming to Australia? xo”

The Dandy Warhols will also return for their annual tour in November. Ok, so they aren’t here every year… but it’s not exactly like they’re strangers to our shores. We saw them on tour last year; in 2010 for Parklife; in 2008 for Fat As Butter; and they helped us count in the beginning of 2007 at Falls.
The confirmation of their 2012 visit has been made on the band’s Facebook page, with the announcement: “for Australians please check channel V website and vote for Jade for presenter. She’s a good friend of the band. See you in November.” November just so happens to be the same month as Harvest festival.
Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry aka Dead Can Dance will also be touring australia later in 2012. Perry announced last year that they reunited to record a followup to 1996’s Spiritchaser album and that they hoped to complete the album by the summer of 2012 and then embark on an extensive two month world tour. Last week they updated those plans by announcing on Facebook that they have “More live news coming very soon…..South America, Australia, NZ and South East Asia!”
Perhaps another one for the Harvest rumour file?
And, if we’re to believe the crew at Next Level Booking Agency (the same folk who have threatened to bring us tours from Pete Wentz and DJ Kevin ‘Drama from Entourage’ Dillon) we’ll also get to see Darryl “D.M.C.” Matthews McDaniels on tour in August.
