Ghostface Killah, DOOM, ChinoXL tour

Update: (18/5/12)
The promoters have now announced that “tangential associate of the Wu-Tang Clan” Killah Priest will now be performing with Ghostface Killah.

Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, masked supervillain DOOM, and “The Puerto Rican Rhyme Slayer” Chino XL are teaming up for the Rap City 2012 tour.

In 2010 Rap City brought DJ Premier, The Beatnuts, Masta Ace & Edo G to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and after a year off it’s back with Brisbane and Fremantle added to the tour schedule. And the impressive lineup is made even more enticing by the fact that Ghostface and DOOM putting the finishing touches on their long awaited, and delayed, collaboration album Swift & Changeable under the moniker DOOMStarks.

Although hip-hop tours have struggled recently with a near comical series of cancellations we’re (reasonably) confident that the this one will come together without a hitch, although the planned Rap City 2010 tour headlined by Blackalicious was cancelled “due to circumstances beyond their control”. This year’s headliners do have a good track record with Australian tours – Ghostface will be returning to Australia following a successful solo Australian tour in 2009 and a visit with his Wu-Tang brothers last year, while DOOM (Printed in all CAPS, always) made his Australian debut last year with a run of sold out shows.

Ghostface Killah, DOOM, Chino XL tour:
Friday 1st June @ HQ, Adelaide
Saturday 2nd June @ Enmore, Sydney
Sunday 3rd June @ Metropolis, Fremantle
Friday 8th June @ Arena, Brisbane
Saturday 9th June @ Forum, Melbourne

Presser says Perth but the poster says Freo - it's clearly Freo.

How were DOOM and Ghost last time they were out here for their own headline shows?

I'm excited at the thought of seeing two of my favourite rappers but I'm worried that the show is just going consist of the two of them lounging around on stage and yelling occasionally.

When people tell me that Ghostface is average live, I always think, no he's not. Then I think, wait, I haven't seen Ghostface live. Then I think, oh yea, I saw him perform on an episode of 30 Rock.

Wasn't even making it up.

It happened on Friday night at a pub... Which is not really a huge coincidence, because the topic of Ghostface's quality as a live performer came up in relation to the announcement of the gig that we happen to be interneting about now.
