Jack White tour confirmed,Splendour very likely!

Frontier Touring has inadvertently revealed that Jack White will be announcing his Australian tour this Friday, just one day after the Splendour in the Grass lineup announcement – sideshows anyone?

The tour promoters announced on their FaceBook page that “We’ve got an exciting tour coming up! All will be announced on Friday. To tide you over until then, we’ll be giving you a clue a day to try and figure out who the mystery act is”

That clue was this miniscule photo of a hand:

It’s a clue that would stump most fans, but shockingly it has already been solved! That mystery hand belongs to Mr Jack White seen here in a photo with Wanda Jackson.

With Splendour set to announce its lineup for 2012 on Thursday morning it’s a very safe bet to assume that the big Jack White announcement on Friday will be his sideshows.

Confirmed? Really? Well you have a decent chance but certainly not confirmed for Splendour. The excitement of a Friday announcement is somewhat lost if he is already announced on Thursday.

There is no way he isn't playing Splendour, surely

berlinchair101

The comfirmation of his sideshows would be better than him being announced at SITG.

Really hoping for a Perth sideshow.

A set at On The Bright Side would be okay but a proper show in a nice venue would rule.

Considering his size and the size of past OTBS headliners, I think he's in with a chance. I hope you guys get a sideshow too.

Wow Langlangs ripped Grattan off in record time. He's very good at not being a journalist.

jack white solo act? or possibly the dead weather instead?

Braveheart81

Braveheart81 said on the 16th Apr, 2012

Jack White solo is 100x better than the Dead Weather.

It means we get the best of the White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather and his solo stuff.

Anyone who doesn't consider this a worthwhile headliner for Splendour is kidding themselves.

berlinchair101

berlinchair101 said on the 16th Apr, 2012

The only downside to it not being the Dead Weather is the lack of Alison Mosshart climbing on you.

Could not agree more, Jack white is way bigger than Bloc Party or Franz Ferdinand, despite the fact I appreciate both

Well that's certainly convincing.

Anyway - Jack was working on her long delayed solo album - from Q mag back in 2006:

Shirley Manson has employed the illustrious likes of Jack White and Billy Corgan to join her on her first solo album. According to AOL, the former Garbage singer has also been working with The Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan on the album, which is due early next year.

Frontier Touring still going with the clues:

They also point out that "Frontier has nothing to do with Splendour folks..."

But to that I say:

Frontier/Splendour tours:
2009 - MGMT, the Specials
2010 - The Strokes, Richard Ashcroft, Miike Snow, k-os
2011 - Kaiser Chiefs, Modest Mouse, Devendra Banhart, The Kills

berlinchair101

berlinchair101 said on the 19th Apr, 2012

If he can get an hour and a half out of a Dead Weather show before they released their second record then we should be sweet ha ha.

From what I've gathered in interviews he is still doing the White Stripes no setlist thing and wants to just be able to play what he wants when he wants.

He also said though that it's harder to do that with a whole band so he has to work his way around it.
