First act leaked for Harvestfestival 2012?

AJ Maddah’s touring Soundwave juggernaut is now over for another year so his attention (and ours) now turns to his more civilised gathering – Harvest festival.

Last year’s Harvest lineup set the bar high with the likes of Portishead, The Flaming Lips, TV On The Radio and The National on the bill so who will be playing at the festival this year?

Although the Radiohead tour announcement clearly warns that “no shows will be added to the tour”, the announcement of Radiohead’s November tour with dates that fall very closely in line with the dates of last year’s Harvest festival, has inevitably prompted some very optimistic speculation that the band could be headlining the festival this year.

However, we got our first realistic clue about the 2012 Harvest lineup last night when Ben Kweller wrapped up his quick Australian tour in Melbourne. FL’s reviewer at the gig, deanoss, reports that Kweller mentioned during the show that he plans to return soon and that “there’s a festival tour in November in the works”.

November festival, hey? What ever could that be?

The full review of the Kweller gig will be published on FL soon.

Nice I could not make the show the other night and it looks like harvest is heading in the right direction again, what a beautiful festival that was last year by the mansion

last time Kweller toured, he brought Delta Spirit with him, and they made him look ordinary by comparison.

In conclusion, please add Delta Spirit to Harvest. Or Splendour. Or absolutely anything at all.

Yeah, Radiohead fans are notorious for outrageous behaviour at festivals... huh?

It's a wonder this festival is still standing after that Portishead mosh-infused violence of last year.

It's funny Bames. I actually nearly had my lights punched out by someone in the Portishead crowd two mins from the end of the show. I actually did have a slightly violent experience.

The only band at last year's Harvest I was interested in was Foxy Shazam, and they were only as good as Slayer at Sydney's Soundwave.

Yeah, I'm still making Slayer jokes.

None of the rumoured bands interest me, but I'll be keen to see who does end up playing.

I could see Arcade Fire headlining this, as (don't count me on this) they don't have much of a following here as they do in the US or Europe. If Rush and Electric Six appear on the bill, I may need new pants.

werd.... it would be good if AJ tried to keep the headliners to acts that haven't toured in recent years

Braveheart81

I personally think that bringing out My Bloody Valentine as a headline act would be a recipe for financial disaster.

I just don't think there'd be the market for it.

MBV is more of an ATP headliner (in fact they curated ATP at Minehead only a couple years back), and ATP-style lineups just don't generate sufficient interest here to be profitable. Best case scenario, you'd get them to the sister series I'll Be Your Mirror in Japan.

true, MBV would be risky... whilst someone like arcade fire would be a easy sell out.... Blur could also be possible, considering there touring again
