Sia quits touring, again
Mon 20th Feb, 2012 in Local News
Sia has announced (again) that she has decided to quit performing live and concentrate on working “behind the scenes”.
Perhaps inspired by her recent sales success collaborating with Hilltop Hoods, Flo Rida, Christina Aguilera and David Guetta, the Adelaide born pop star told her Twitter followers that she’s “not touring or doing appearances or being in videos or doing interviews anymore. i like to be behind the scenes for now. i’ll make music and put it out eventually, just without touring or promoting it. and i’ll make bank writing pop songs for pop starz!”
This isn’t the first time that Sia has announced that she plans to retire from the limelight. Back in 2010 she told The Age that “After this record [ We Are Born ] I’ll make records and I’ll put them out but I will not promote or tour them. I’ll just write pop songs for other people.”
Sia had also previously announced that her new album produced by The Strokes’ Nick Valensi would be released this year, so hopefully it will still be released – even if we’ll never have the chance to hear it live.
Although she didn’t tour Australia until the release of her fourth record in 2009, Sia returned to play at Homebake and Meredith in 2010 and toured as part of the Big Day Out lineup early last year.
