Not many bands can boast that they were name dropped in The Wire , but LA’s Dead Meadow can (thanks in part to the fact that the band’s leader Jason Simon is the nephew of The Wire creator David Simon). Cass McCombs and his band is visiting Australia for first time this month for the Perth Festival and shows in Melbourne and Sydney. The FasterLouder review of the California-based singer/songwriter’s most recent album _Humor Risk_notes that it “ is a much warmer and a more accessible collection of songs than its predecessor… while [still featuring] McCombs’ trademark smirk and dark humour”.

English indie rock veterans The Wedding Present will be making their first ever visit to Australia this April, playing shows in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne featuring their classic album 1991 Steve Albini recorded record Seamonsters in full. The band will also be promoting their eighth studio album Valentina , which is once again propelled by founding (and only remaining original) member David Gedge’s perpetual broken heart and incisively brazen lyrics.

Thursday 12th April – Jive Bar, Adelaide
Friday 13th April – Annandale Hotel, Sydney
Saturday 14th April – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
