Lana Del Rey postponesAustralian tour

Is Lana Del Rey going into lock down? The US singer who has been under intense scrutiny from music media since giving a flat performance on Saturday Night Live last month has postponed her forthcoming Australian promo tour.

While the singer has promised that “more extensive dates will be announced soon”, the news comes only hours after the New York Post reported that the singer’s management has cancelled all touring plans for the foreseeable future.

The hate-swarm that ensued following Del Rey’s performance is unlike anything the music world has seen in sometime, unless the panning of Rebecca Black’s Friday is comparable. Amidst the cries for Del Rey’s blood, Liz Phair published a piece for the Wall Street Journal this week in which she commented on this modern day ‘Witch Hunt’: “Lana Del Rey is exactly what I was hoping to inspire when I took on the male rock establishment almost twenty years ago.”

If you purchased your ticket online or over the phone through moshtix your ticket will be automatically refunded back. If you purchased your ticket from a moshtix retail outlet you will need to return to the outlet with your ticket to receive your refund.

Stay tuned to FasterLouder for updates on the tour.

she is talentless in my opinion, i doubt she wrote her own vocals let alone the music. here's the thing, she, or her management, rather, had a great strategy when it came to her image - now it's the hipster/ boho boom and they've managed to polish her into something that will appeal to a lot of people, to be precise, younger people, mostly girls. if you look at her behaviour, her fashion, her videos, everything she does looks like a fashion advertisement. she's got everything we have seen to be very widely adored, think gossip girl meets florence and the machine, i refer to image only. now days indie pop and the likes have become nothing unusual, and from what i hear and see, the basis of that whole culture is "it can be bad, bad is original, garage is cool", to explain this better, vocalists and players with simple melodies/limited abilities, are becoming very popular, because there is this feeling of "ok, i want to listen to this because i don't want to be a part of the mainstream". i need to clarify here that this is purely an opinion, everyone can listen to whatever they like, i have nothing against those musicians/fans at all. the problem i have with that is, and i'm speaking of my own personal preference, is that the industry has become so watered down, that anyone and everyone can become a recording artist. years ago it used to be more difficult, but now, with triple j and all, anyone can be on the radio, which is good, and bad. back to the point, watching del ray perform, and i'm not referring only to snl, is almost funny because she is visibly unaware of how to sing, and she does not communicate with the audience. i do not hate her, if she's having a ball doing it, let her. this doesn't bother me that much because when it comes down to it, if you don't like an artist, don't listen/watch them. i think her popularity is widely based on pleasing the masses, and the good timing. today the term "star" is used more frequently than "musician", and a large part of the motivation behind people wanting to be performers, is not love for the art but fame. the masses don't want it complicated so lana del ray's will continue to exist. the thing is, here we all are talking about her....she's done a damn good job of making sure she gets talked about. if she does come here, i will go and see her live and make my own conclusions on how good she is...but considering the great sound and sound techs she would have around her at such a high grade performance as snl, i doubt i'd be anything even remotely close to charmed.
