The Greenroom gets a new life
Sun 5th Feb, 2012 in Local News
Canberra’s legendary Greenroom in Woden was a popular choice for live gigs for nearly 6 years, until unfortunate circumstances forced the venue to close its doors. But after hard work and tough negotiations, it’s back, in the form of a month’s trial at the Woden Tradies Club.
The man behind the magic, Garry Peadon, is excited to bring the Greenroom back, but needs your support to keep it open.
Garry explains, ‘The plan is to gather hard data to submit to its (Woden Tradies Club) board members in order for them to approve a permanent, purpose built, mid-sized venue that this city lacks’.
‘For the month of March you’ll be able to come check out the basic idea and catch a variety of acts including British India, Closure In Moscow, and Funkoars, Garry says. ‘If all goes well, not only will the room be rebuilt as a venue, but we will gain a new club, a muso’s club’.
‘The final idea is to have a club that is aimed at original live music, so if it happens, the local scene will have a club where you can jam, perform or just hang out’.
So get on down to the Greenroom at the Woden Tradies Club and show your support for Canberra’s newest-old venue.
