Coldplay tour announced, kindof

Lock it in Eddie! Following on from Collingwood President Eddie McGuire’s prediction that Coldplay would be touring Australia later in 2012, the English rockets have announced a promo visit this February.

The fly-by tour will see the band play two ‘money-can’t-buy’ performances, the first on Thursday 16th of February for 2Day FM, where 30 competition winners will get the chance to watch the band perform songs from new album Mylo Xyloto, and the second on Friday 17th February for Kochie and Mel on Sunrise.

Given that Eddie McGuire’s source for the original tour rumour was Frontier Touring head-honcho Michael Gudinski, it is safe to assume that these shows will be followed up by a bigger tour announced later in the year.

Chris Martin and co were last here for a one-off performance at Splendour In The Grass, with a huge headline spot that left even the naysayers smiling: “When all was said and done, whether you were a fan of the band or not, it was impossible not to get swept up in the bombast of Coldplay’s Sunday night set. It was everything a festival closer should be, and then some.”

I'd guess they're promoting to the 40+ set.

On their next tour it will allow them to have $450 premium tickets where you get to sit in the front few rows and get a free choctop and a coke.

When bands turn to lasers it's to take the focus off a) shit music, b) crap live show or c) combo of a & b - see muse, Metallica etc. Chances are it has worked on ^^^^^^^

Muse were alright when I saw them. Played most of what I wanted to hear, left after Stockholm Syndrome. Could defintely have done without all the whistles and bells. Like, playing on top of giant pillars or whatever? Come on.

i thought Muse were fucking awesome both times i saw them in 2010 taking into consideration The Resistance was one of the worst albums of the last few years. personally i thought the bells and whistles made the show what it is. but i guess it doesn't do it for everyone.

I will be there when they come again. I only saw them online when they played at splendour but I saw them when they were here promoting viva la vida. I like to think I've got a diverse taste in music and I know how much people like to rag on Coldplay but Ive pretty much enjoyed all they've done so far. I still haven't heard their new album but again still like bits ive heard. It surely can't be a bad thing

Paradise is ok not most successful song of there's ever ok but still ok. Other songs Iv heard from album are average, recent albums are over produced but that's Coldplay for you, generally I hate this shit but Coldplay has a nostalgic soft spot & as I hinted at before would love to go just to hear 3 or 4 songs from parachutes particularly shiver which IMO is their best song

Supposedly Sunrise got around 1000 requests for tickets without even announcing how people could attain them. Sucks to be those guys.

Anywho, friend made a good point on facebook that this was too close to the Grammys for it to ever be feasible .
