Soundwave: lineup change;timetables coming this week

There’s some good news and some bad news if you’re a Soundwave fan in Brisbane.

First of all the good news – According to festival boss AJ Maddah the timetables for the Brisbane and Sydney festivals will be released later this week( Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth timetables will be released next week).

Now the bad news – These Kids Wear Crowns will not make it to Brisbane in time for the festival. The band will be starting the tour at Sydney as they have a sold out stadium show supporting Simple Plan in Canada. Maddah has apologized to Brisbane punters on Twitter noting that “We’d been told about this a while ago but somehow forgot. My bad.”

Then again perhaps the absence of These Kids Wear Crowns from the bill in Brissie could lead to fewer timetable clashes – guess we’ll find out very soon.

So I'm assuming for Melbourne the "metal" stage is no longer in the tin shed but where stages 3 and 4 were last year and that Mastodon (playing side stage) will be playing in the tin shed as headliner. Seeing as In Flames were high on the bill a few years back and released an album in the last 6 months I'd think they'd be rather late on the timetable somewhere.

I can see a cluster fuck of clashes happening. The fact that I more than likely wont be visiting the main stage all day makes me feel a little better though. I was sure Trivium would play main stage seeing as AJ has a mega boner for Matt Heafy and I'm pretty sure I read that Machine Head are closing the metal stage on their facebook not long ago so not sure where they'll slot in if according to AJ they are playing the metal stage.

I guess it's just a maddah of time before all will be revealed.

I think it's assumed that the only bands of a decent calibre would be playing a similar set time on their respective genre stages.

someone asked aj on twitter who was clashing with mastodon on the main stage and he said bad religion.

at least i've got tickets to mastodon's sideshow. i can see bad religion at soundwave and then mastodon on the thursday. i'd watch mastodon if there were no sideshows.

Wait, when will Bad Religion be playing main stage? Guess it'll be below SOAD and Slipknot which means at the latest maybe 6/6:15 (taking into account 90 mintues for both bands before and a close of 10 for Melbourne)

Lucky I got MH, LoG and ToG sideshow tickets as this could get ugly.

i'll have to search through his twitter, but i'm sure aj said that the last four bands to play will be limp bizkit, marilyn manson, slipknot, and soad in that order. i'm not sure why he's putting limp bizkit on before manson if limp bizkit were billed higher. maybe manson wanted to play at night and 6pm was the closest he could get.

I think I remember reading on AJs twitter a long time that system of a down and machine head won't clash. I hope that's still true or I'll be annoyed; the mastodon/bad religion clash is bad enough.

Pretty sure that he said Machine Head and SOAD won't clash. Remember that the metal stage headliner doesn't always play last i.e. Slayer at last year's event was the official headliner but as to not clash with Maiden was on earlier in the evening.

Neil Starr has taken ill and will be unable to perform at the band's sideshow tonight in Sydney. “Doctors have advised us that he should not perform tonight in order to recover properly. Ticket holders to the Annandale show tonight can still attend as The Cab and River City Extension will be performing as scheduled. The remaining Attack! Attack! band members will be at the sideshows to meet face to face with fans and to also conduct a signing session.
