More Sidewaves; Soundwaveradio
Wed 25th Jan, 2012 in Local News
Fans of metal, noodle recipes and Twitter wars will be excited to know that for one night only Soundwave boss AJ Maddah will be the guest host for the Valentine’s Day edition (that’s Tuesday 14th February for you cynical/single folk) of triple j’s The Racket .
Despite the loss of its long-serving host, Andrew Haug, triple j’s The Racket lives on in 2012 with a new permanent host (sadly not AJ) to be confirmed soon. While we wait to discover who will be donning the devil horned headphones a series of guest hosts including Cavalera Conspiracy and Chaos Divine will sit in playing their favourite heavy tunes in January and February.
For a decade Haugy delivered the weekly dose of metal to triple j listeners before the news of his departure from the national yoof broadcaster late last year rattled us all like a Mastodon riff. However in a neat coincidence AJ has given Haugy a new gig as the host on
Soundwave Pirate Radio.
The online radio station streaming around the clock on Soundwave.com and promises exclusive interviews, daily news updates and fist pumping tracks from all your favourite Soundwave artists” and will feature Haugy as the host of the weekly 2-hour metal show ‘Haugmetal’ every Thursday night from 8pm – 10pm.
So if you’ve missed hearing Haugy dulcet tones on the airwaves you’ll be wanting to tune into the launch of Soundwave’s Pirate Radio on Thursday January 26th at 8pm. (That’s tomorrow for you slow kids up the back.)
In other Soundwave news another batch of Sidewaves featuring the likes of Cobra Starship, Forever The Sickest Kids, These Kids Wear Crowns, Hyro Da Hero, Cathedral and Paradise Lost has been added to the ever growing schedule of shows vying for your hard-earned.
Cobra Starship – surely the only Soundwave band to ever collaborate with a Gossip Girl cast member and book in an Australian tour with Maroon – will play headline shows with support from Forever The Sickest Kids, These Kids Wear Crowns and the band Billy Corgan once called “the future of Chicago rock” – Kill Hannah.
Doom metal veterans Cathedral will play their last ever headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne with Paradise Lost and Turisas providing the support
Hyro Da Hero will also play two Sidewave shows to remind us all that Fred Durst isn’t the only rapper on the 2012 Soundwave lineup.
And finally Raised Fist have been added to the previously announced Hatebreed, Cro –Mags and Biohazard Sidewave shows.
