The Sonics, 5,6,7,8’s andmore tour with Hoodoo Gurus

Update:
The Perth and Brisbane legs of the tour are now sold-out.

The shows in Sydney and Melbourne have now added Steve Wynn from The Dream Syndicate. And the Sydney show, which has now expanded to add a fourth venue ( The Sly Fox Hotel) will also get a sets from Kim Salmon & Spencer P. Jones and The Gooch Palms.

The full schedules and final additions are due to be announced in mid-March.

How is this for the ultimate garage rock lineup: The Sonics, 5,6,7,8’s, Red Kross, The Fleshtones, Royal Headache, Died Pretty, The Lovetones and The Hardons – all brought together by Aussie rock legends Hoodoo Gurus?

This April, to mark their 30th anniversary, The Gurus will bring together all these bands for the decidedly epic Dig It Up! tour. With different versions of the lineup performing at theatres across Australia, each event will be headlined by Dave Faulkner and co performing their classic album Stoneage Romeos in its entirety.

This is kind of the greatest.

Friday 20th April – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Hoodoo Gurus, The Sonics, The 5,6,7,8’s

Sunday 22nd April – Enmore Theatre, Notes Live and The Green Room
Hoodoo Gurus, The Sonics, Died Pretty, Red Kross, the 5,6,7,8’s, Tex & Younger (Radio Birdman), The Fleshtones, Hard-ons, Belles Will Ring, Royal Headache, The Lovetones, The Straight Arrows + comedy, spoken word, DJs and food stalls stretched around Enmore Rd.

Tuesday 24th April – HQ, Adelaide
Hoodoo Gurus and The Sonics

Wednesday 25th April (ANZAC Day) – The Palace, Melbourne
Hooddo Gurus, The Sonics, Died Pretty, Redd Kross, the 5,6,7,8’s, The Fleshtones, Hard-ons, The Lovetones and more to come!

Saturday 28th April – The Astor, Perth
Hoodoo Gurus, Redd Kross and The Fleshtones

as much as i enjoy gleaning the forums, i rarely post. but i felt that this deserved a big wtf?!?

as much as i love the gurus and have seen them a few times over the years. and despite how great the otehr bands are, the prices almost made me choke on my sandwich....

it would be the enmore show that is so expensive

hate that venue. top dollar just to have some neanderthal telling you to sit down all night.

dancefloor tickets are the go and probably the more expensive ones.

Almost everyone else thinks the Enmore is the best venue in Sydney.

The Enmore show is expensive because it includes lots of bands, multiple venues and presumably goes for the whole day.

whilst it's obvious that the sydney leg seem to be more of an event/festival than the other gigs, surely $160 is still a bit much.

nonetheless, it'll be interesting to see how it sells.

thats cool. im not everyone lol
give me the metro anyday. that said some of the bigger bands have to go to the enmore. ive just noticed that when there is a show at the enmore it is very expensive. maybe im imagining things.

that coupled with the no dancing policy makes for a bad start to the night.

at least it is within walking distance of the sando.

dont get me wrong i love the gurus but $70 to $170 is a huge jump for a few extra support bands and some street stalls (which newtown has every weekend anyhow)

I like the Metro but it doesn't have the atmosphere of the Enmore I don't think.
