Sydney’s favourite jump-roping, granny-groping party band Bluejuice has announced themselves for the 2012 Groovin’ The Moo regional touring festival.

Lead singer Jake Stone has told the Maitland Mercury that “It’s really nice to be on Groovin The Moo, especially because I was miffed Groovin The Moo hadn’t booked us [before]”

He also revealed that the booking could be the result of a drunken email to the festival promoters – “I was really drunk and semi-abusive,” Stone explained. “I thought that writing the email would mean that we’d never play that festival, but I thought ‘who cares, they’ve never booked us so I’ll just say how I feel.’”

Promoters have suggested some key name acts for next years lineup, including “a couple have never toured Australia before.”

Who would you like to see join Bluejuice on the 2012 Groovin’ The Moo lineup?

Dates for 2012 Groovin’ The Moo
Saturday 5th May – Prince of Wales Showground, Bendigo Sunday 6th May– Murray Sports Complex, Townsville Saturday 12th May – Showgrounds, Maitland Sunday 13th May – University of Canberra Saturday 19th May – Hay Park, Bunbury

I am hoping they pull out the Black Keys again. Would also go crazy for the Shins.

As a GTM regular, I'd be overly keen for any of the following for internationals: Black Keys, Decemberists, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Yeasayer, Two Door Cinema Club, Massive Attack, Band of Horses or The Antlers.

Considering they've had UNKLE, The Wombats, The Drums, Spoon and Tegan & Sara, they've done pretty well international act wise and every year it seems to grow, so....

And of course, the usual prayer for Radiohead, Arcade Fire or David Bowie shall be made, all to no avail as per usual

Jesus Christ, you people are ridiculous when it comes to predictions.

Hey I never said 'these guys will defz be here aye' like everyone else.

I just said I'd like to see them. Sure massive attack is a bit of a long shot, I'll admit that.

In terms of logical predictions. It will be all Australian mid-range acts like everyone else says plus one international.

Yeasayer is probably the most likely out of the ones you've listed; but it'll probably just end up being fucking DIOY,Y? or something.

I could see TDCC doing it as well tbh

Are they still touring, though? Would be weird for them to just come out for no reason.

I don't think it would be weird for The Black Keys to headline.

I think they said they were coming out later though.

a few bands are due back in australia:

iron and wine - hasn't been here since 2008 and has a new(ish) album

matt and kim - promised at the bdo this year they would be back soon, maybe one more tour before they close up shop for album number 4.

passion pit - new album due mid next, debuted two new songs at moogfest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsiatlz0avw&feature=related, havn't been here since splendour 2010.

stonronway - played laneway this year, finishing off new album, beautiful band. new song "i just touched down from outer space" http://www.pitchfork.com/tv/pitchfork-music-festival-paris/1864-stornoway-take-away-show/3034-when-you-touch-down-from-outer-space/

at least one from the bbc sound of 2012 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/soundof/2012/artists/

tdcc - very possible were last here for laneway still touring next year. http://twodoorcinemaclub.com/live/

noah and the whale - last here for splendour and plenty of vacant dates over may. http://www.noahandthewhale.com/tour.php

i would say foals because they have said many times they love australia, but after touring tlf for almost two years i'd say they would be retreating back to the studio.

i don't think yeasayer will come due to this http://www.yeasayer.net/.

there is a few international bands that i think may make an appearance.

Would go to Canberra if they were on the lineup. Sucks that Maitland usually falls on Mother's Day and my mum isn't a fan of hanging out with thousands of Central Coast gronks while listening to bands, though.

Maybe he lives in Townsville where you pretty much can't see them anywhere else without travelling. To my knowledge, they have only been here once before.

Close: according to his profile, he lives near Bunbury.

I guess the point still remains though that if he had been from somewhere like Townsville, it is quite plausible that he would get excited to see a band that doesn't tour here often/at all.
