triple j announce 2012 'NextCrop' bands

Now that Gotye has been awarded ‘Oz album of The year’ and Ball Park Music have been crowned ‘Unearthed Artist of The Year’ triple j have moved onto all things 2012, releasing their ‘Next Crop’ predictions.

The list of 20 Australian artists – some of which are more ‘This Year’s Harvest’ then ‘Next Year’s Crop’ – are musicians the js think “ will blow your minds over the next twelve months”. 2011’s nominated crop included Ball Park Music, Kimbra and Yolanda Be Cool.

its a shit song they put up by owl eyes, but they have been kicking around melbourne for quite some time now caught them about 2 or 3 years ago and are consistantly good and brooke is quite hot also

incredible indigenous band from north queensland, probably the best inclusion on the list. the majority either merely fit the bill of where triple j's sound is heading or they have already made it in 2011 anyway.

Yes! SSB are fantastic, their album is one of the best Aussie releases of the year and they were fantastic supporting Fucked Up.

I count 2 bands out of 20 with a major label deal. 3 if you count Gold Fields' US deal with EMI.

yeah i have nothing against the list at all of course the bands are not gonna be completely unheard of its JJJ afterall, cheers for the heads up on SSB aswell, just had a listen and enjoyed highly. I particularly like the band Love Migrate who are kicking around melbourne atm, they have not even released their EP yet but they are getting a little air time now and are excellent live/

It's a couple of the SSB guys, they're a really fun punk band and put on an awesome show. Highly recommend their album (Live Fast, Get Tropical)
