Andrew Haug farewellstriplej’s The Racket
Wed 30th Nov, 2011 in Local News
Following the departure of long serving Super Request presenter Rosie Beaton, Andrew Haug has also announced that after a decade of metal his time as the host of The Racket has come to an end.
triple j’s master of all things heavy plans to spend more time drumming with his band Contrive and send his thanks to triple j “for what’s been an amazing ride and privilege” and to The Racket listeners for “all their support and dedication to the Heavy Metal genre in its many forms. This show has never been about me, I’m just the lucky messenger spreading the word & I’ll continue to do so.”
He’ll raise his devil horns for the last time on triple j next Tuesday (6th December) ending a run that has included 612 interviews including Ozzy Osbourne, Mastodon, Iron Maiden, Slipknot and all of the Big 4 – Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth.
We sincerely hope that someone at triple j can convince outspoken Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah to step in to and take over hosting duties on The Racket. Now that would be entertaining radio!
