Metronomy sideshows

Due to popular demand Mercury Prize nominated electro-pop crew Metronomy have added two additional shows to their Australian tour.

Back in October the band announced a Melbourne sideshow to their appearances at Falls, Southbound, Field Day and Summafieldayze and now they’ve added extra headline shows in Sydney and Brisbane.

When FL spoke to Metronomy frontman Joseph Mount earlier this year he told us that when the band plays live they “have a different energy to [the album]. We try and strike a bit of a balance between being really true to the way it sounds on the record and also giving it room for the crowd help pep it up a bit.”

FL playlisters Oscar + Martin will be the opening act at all three sideshow dates.

Metronomy sideshows:
Wednesday 4th January – The Zoo, Brisbane
Thursday 5th January – Manning Bar, Sydney
Friday 6th January – The Hi-Fi, Melbourne

Sydney and Brisbane shows on sale Friday 2nd December, Melbourne on sale now.

Excited for this though Manning wouldn't be my first choice of venue.

I heard some bad things about the new album before I listened to it, when I heard it though I didn't see why it got such a bad view as a lot of people are giving it.

It's not the Metronomy we all know and love. No quirky, fast paced songs. All slow, down tempo and monotonous.

The Look is absolutely perfect for dancing to. And yes the rest of the album is a bit more downtempo, but I liked the sound of it when I gave it a once through. I wouldn't call it amazing, but it's far from horrible.

I loved Nights Out but their first tour here was terrible.

I understand their live show is now completely different with different musicians but I'm not sure I'll try again. I haven't listened to anything apart from a couple of singles since Nights Out.

their new album is fantastic. corinne, the look, the bay, she wants are all great tracks. one of my favourite albums of the year. this show is not to be missed

aw i still think they've got it :( sure, the look is a little down in tempo but still think it's worth seeing live.
