Cansei de Ser Sexy aka CSS visited us for the Big Day Out earlier this year and made good use of their time by persuading fellow BDO tourist Bobby Gillespie to guest on their new album, La Liberación. They’re heading back Down Under to celebrate New Years at Falls Festival and play a pair of sideshows, which will hopefully be everybit as fun as their BDO shows, which FL’s reviewer in Sydney described as “exceptional.. you cannot help but get caught up in the endearing, hyperactive presence of Lovefoxx that is only helped by her hilarious banter”.
CSS sideshows:
Tuesday 3rd January – The Standard, Sydney
Thursday 5th January – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Chairlift shares a knack for polished pop production with fellow Brooklyn bandslike MGMT and Yeasayer and will be showing off the tunes from their upcoming album, Something at the Laneway Festival early next year. They have also squeezed headline appearances, with support from Elizabeth Rose, in Sydney and Melbourne onto their tour schedule adding to the long list of Laneway fest sideshows vying for your attention.
Chairlift Laneway sideshows:
Tuesday 31st January – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
Tuesday 7th February – East Brunswick Club, Melbourne
Bonobo (aka Simon Green) is bringing his whole six piece band including vocalist Andreya Triana to Australia for the first time to play at Playground Weekender, WOMADelaide for a pair of headline shows in March.
The Ninja Tune artist will be playing material from all four of his records including Days To Come, which was voted ‘Album of the Year’ by Gilles Peterson’s listeners in 2006, and his most recent album Black Sands.
Bonobo sideshows:
Friday 2nd March – The Metro, Sydney
Thursday 8th March – The Corner, Melbourne
