Playground Weekender 2012lineup set for Thursday

Playground Weekender has announced “Very frustratingly we have line up ready here to deliver but due to a very minor hitch we’ve been held up all day – its been as frustrating for us as it has been for you guys as we believe your going to love what we’ve got for PGW2012 – but due to the delay we’re going to have to push it back to tomorrow but I can guarantee it will happen then so tune in and get ready to be excited!! Hope you still love us xx”

The Playground Weekender 2012 lineup will be unveiled on this week – on Thursday 10th November to be precise – so its time to start thinking of costume ideas again.

Seventies disco legends Chic, led by founding member Nile Rodgers, confirmed last week that they’ll be bringing the Good Times to the festival. And this morning an overexcited press release for the Neon Indian tour revealed that Alan Palomo will also be showing off his glo-fi/chillwave sounds at the festival in addition to his Perth Festival sideshows.

As for the rest of the lineup we’ll have to wait until Thursday, or another leak, but with Roots Manuva, Erkayh Badu, Charles Bradley, MEN and Cut Chemist all with Australian tour dates very close to the Playground Weekender weekend we’re hoping for something special.

The best dressed festival on the Summer calendar has shifted from February to March, but will still be held at the Rio Resort, Wisemans Ferry, with the pool and river there to help you cool down after a long sweaty day on the dancefloor.

New Order would be great for this or BDO second announcement on Thursday, fingers crossed.
They just announced more dates for London and South America for December, so the tour is growing.

Why not Tyler? Australia is the place to play if you want to make the bucks in the current GFC situation.

It is ace btw, kinda bummed I can't go this year, definitely worth it, I've always purchased tickets pre lineup announcement and always had a great time.

I dont think they are recording, just doing gigs, but yeah I guess it all depends on if Aussie promoters are chasing them or not.
You'd think touring Australia in our summer would look more appealing than a winter tour in the US over the next few months?

Simon & Garfunkel started their reunion tour here so New Order is possible. I'd have thought they'd be a bit too massive for Playground though, but I can hope. While we're at it how about Depeche Mode too?

Oh I most definitely expect that to be the case. If the planets align and i have moved and have the cash and the lineup is awesome and there is a last minute boat person cancellation I might make a surprise appearence, but odds are probably 10000-1 that it all comes together.

This is the usual situation. The one straggler will not agree today and the lineup will not be announced. Though I think last year they went ahead with a semi announcement a few days after this same situation occured. Maybe they will improve.

Been interested in checking out Playground for a while, might actually get to it next year with Bonobo, Neon Indian, HudMo, Ariel Pink (despite the bad live reputation) and a bunch of others. How much are tickets/were tickets last year? And does anyone know what the difference between UNKLE and UNKLE Sounds is? Really enjoyed seeing them this year and wouldn't mind doing so again.

I think we will have a shitload of FL'ers on the bandwagon for 2013 hey. And yes I will be making a definite return in 2013, the fun factor is worth the cheap multiday presale ticket even without the knowledge of the lineup. Has never disappointed!

All that aside, saving $800 minimum and then houseboating and having a no holds barred weekend is easily the best way to do it.

The Orb were great at Global Gathering, wouldn't mind seeing Bomb The Bass & Roots Manuva too but that's about it for me. Hopefully Brisbane will get some sideys.

Nah the party band plays 3rd last usually. Well Bjorn Again and Kool and the Gang were both originally in those spots ut kool were moved due to DOves pulling out

De La were only headlinens after Doves pulled out
