In brief: Neon Indian, DeathSet and Jim Ward sideshows

Spazcore renegades The Death Set have announced a run of Falls Festival sideshows for this January. This will be the band’s first show back home since the release of their new album Michel Poiccard, which features collaborations with Diplo and Spankrock and a number of songs that address of the bands founder, Beau Velasco who died in late 2009.

Tuesday 3rd January – Roxanne Parlour, Melbourne
Wednesday 4th January – The Nash, Geelong
Thursday 5th January – Lambda, Brisbane
Friday 6th January – Elsewhere, Gold Coast

Founding member of At the Drive-In, Jim Ward has announce two small sideshows to mark his return to our shores for Peats Ridge Festival this New Year’s Eve. As a regular visitor to our shores, Ward was last here in August to show off tunes from his debut solo album Quiet In The Valley, On The Shores The End Begins.

Tuesday 3rd January – East Brunswick Club, Melbourne
Friday 6th January – Sando Hotel, Sydney

Already confirmed as part of the stunning Perth International Arts Festival Neon Indian aka Alan Palomo will show off his new album Era Extraña at a handful of sideshows next year. The first release since his 2009 debut, Era Extrana is described as “…a darker shaded sound document that tosses somewhere between an 8-bit shoegaze record and peering through the fence of a teenage apocalypse drive-in flick.” Spooky.
