The Ballot for Golden Plains Sixxx is now closed with the largest number of punters thus far (by a hefty margin) entering the quest for tickets to see the festival’s superb lineup of acts. You have until 10pm sharp on Wednesday 2nd November (that’s today!) to buy your tickets, then the ballot code self-destructs.

The largest ballot to date means that more people have been unlucky in the ballot than ever before – so here are the all important details for the remaining tickets. Store sales will kick off on Thursday 3rd November, with Aunty Meredith warning that she does not expect the store allocations to last the day. Online sales will start at 11am on Friday 4th November.

For those of you who miss out on tickets (or have some strange reason for not wanting to go to the festival) another of the festival’s most anticipated bands Black Lips have announced a run of sideshow dates.

The hell-raising rock’n’roll quartet, who ditched 4- track cassette recorder in favour of super producer Mark Ronson on their new album Arabia Mountain, will play headline shows in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. (They are also part of the Adalaide festival lineup announced last week.)

Thursday 1st March – Coolangatta Hotel, Gold Coast
Friday 2nd March – The Zoo, Brisbane
Sunday 4th March – The Annandale, Sydney
Wednesday 7th March – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Thursday 8th March – Bakery, Perth

Made up of members from Sleater-Kinney, Helium and The Minders, Portland indie rockers Wild Flag have released one of this year’s finest records in the way of their self-titled debut. You’ll have the chance to see the ladies behind the tunes doing what they do best at Golden Plains Sixxx next year, however, if you haven’t had any ballot love you can also see catch them at one of the following sideshows.
