With Harvest Festival just over a week away the lineup has grown again with the addition of Trojan Sound System – the official DJs of the famed reggae label that released some of the first records by greats such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry – and The Herbaliser DJs from the acclaimed Ninja Tunes label.

While we impatiently wait for the all important Harvest festival timetables to be released, the promoters have issued some important advice on getting to the festival.

Transport to the festivals in Brisbane and Sydney is fairly simple as both venues have already been used for several festivals. Punters in Brisbane just need to get to the Botanic Gardens, while in Sydney it’s just a simple matter of jumping on a train to Parramatta Station.

In Melbourne things are a little more complicated and the promoters have issued details about transport with the advice that “Patience is a virtue.” The Werribee festival site is located approximately 43km from Melbourne and although there is a train station in Werribee you can’t walk from the train station to the festival site.

However, the festival is offering a free event shuttle service from Werribee train station, which is advertised as “the best way to get to and from the festival”. The shuttle bus will take approximately 20 mins from Werribee station to the festival site.

There will also be chartered coaches running directly from Federation Square to the festival from the city departing at 10am, 11.30 am and 1pm. This service must be pre booked and costs $40 +bf

Extra trains from Werribee to the City have been scheduled in addition to the regular service to get you back home. Just remember that you’ll have to factor in the time it will take to catch the shuttle bus to connect with one of these trains:
•10.02pm
•10:32pm
•10.50pm* festival special
•11.02pm
•11.16pm* festival special
•11.32pm last train

A cab from Melbourne will set you back between $80 -$100 so that’s probably not a great idea.

The travel advice for the Melbourne festival reveals that music will run from the 12 noon – 10.30pm, with the gates opening at 11am. Presumably the playing times will be similar at all three festivals.

And one other piece of advice :”Some of the artists appearing at Harvest Festival may use lyrics, language or gestures whilst entertaining that some people may find offensive.”

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
