TV On The Radio talk albumnumber six

In two weeks TV On The Radio will land on our shores for the first time since early 2009, giving fans the chance to hear tunes from their latest album Nine Types Of Light. If we are lucky enough there is even the slight possibility of hearing something completely new from Brooklyn’s finest, with Tunde Adebimpe revealing to FasterLouder that the band already have record number six on their mind.

In an interview with FL writer davidswan, Tunde excitedly talked about the band’s next musical project together: “I wish we were making a record right now because we’re in a good place to start doing that…It’s sort of tough on the road. People are writing demos and things like that now, but I would prefer to not be on the road while we’re recording, because it’d be nice to get it done in one fell swoop and not interrupt the momentum by playing shows. Especially so late in the tour, it gets a bit tricky if you start writing new songs and that’s all you wanna do, and suddenly everything you’ve ever written sounds really dumb when all the new stuff is really interesting and great. I don’t know what the future holds, but it’d be nice to start working on something after the tour, early next year.”

He went on to say, “So I think we’re focusing, at the moment, on finishing this tour and then getting things together for another record. I’m looking forward to finishing this tour in a really strong way, and taking some time to sit and plan that kind of thing, because we usually don’t get to.”

Given there was talk of the band taking some time out after a huge 12 months in which they lost friend and bassist Gerard Smith to lung cancer, the news that TVOTR are on course for another record already will no doubt be welcome news to fans.

The full interview with TV On The Radio will be published on FasterLouder in coming weeks.
