Big Day Out second lineupupdate

-interview20111019.aspx” target=”_blank”>The Vine that she will be playing the festival come January.

While discussing plans to tour her debut album Vows, the songstress let slip, “We’re doing…Big Day Out. Actually I’m not sure if that’s been announced, but I’m sure it will be out by the time this gets published.”

The second Big Day Out lineup is traditionally stacked with Australian artists however, with Noel Gallagher having just announced a run of Japanese dates for January and Bombay Bicycle Club recently tweeting: “Anyone in North America, Australia and Japan, we’ll be coming somewhere near you in early 2012”, both artists are looking very likely as international additions to the bill.

While the official announcement isn’t due until Wednesday 9th November we have placed some bets on the bands we think are most likely to be joining Soundgarden and Yeezy at Big Day Out 2012

Noel Gallagher, The Vaccines and Ed Sheeran would all be awesome

Bombay Bicycle Club are all that really interests me on that list.
I was really hoping for some more of The Gaslight Anthem and Wiz Khalifa and a few others that people seem to be mentioning.

I thought The Pains of Being Pure at Heart were on the Laneway lineup for some reason.

I did just see them in that slideshow, didn't I?

Maybe I'm having a Powderfinger-esque trip

Florence & The Machine would be good, been listening to Ceremonials all morning and it's pretty amazing.
Adding them and Noel would tempt me into buying a ticket.

Read the Powderfinger article to get what i'm referring to.

i got it.
i was purely pointing out the fact that trips are never boring and to have a "powderfinger-esque" trip just might be the exception

Ed sheeran just annouced an early November tour in melbourne and Sydney.

I heard about that but it's just a promo tour. He's announced that he's gonna be coming back to Australia early next year for a proper tour.

Yeah sounds like a super quick 'Hi, i'm Ed and I'll see you next year' tour:

Some good news, Aussies... I am coming to explore Sydney and Melbourne in early November. I'll be playing a couple of super small shows while I'm over there and want to give you the chance to come down.

'The second Big Day Out lineup is traditionally stacked with Australian artists'.........taking into account the already huge amount of repetitive Aussie acts on the first lineup, they should probably just rename BDO, 'Homebakewithsomeimportedingredients'

The announcement always seems a bit more exciting in New Zealand, since almost all the artists are technically internationals

death cab i'm thinking, either that or they'll do a codes and keys tour after that.

From today's Herald Sun:

THE second round of 2012 Big Day Out artists will be announced this Wednesday. Rumours include Kimbra, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Vaccines and Drapht.
Not bad. Not great.
Maybe Viv Lees got out at the right time.

Yep, that seems to be right. triple J reckon they are announcing it on the 9th too.

The news comes just a week out from the second line up announcement for Big Day Out 2012 with triple j announcing all of the new additions to next year's festival on Wednesday November 9.

From the Tom and Alex page on Triple J:
Thursday: you'll hear another load of artists added to the Big Day Out line up

Conflicting dates?

And I think Noel will chuck a hissy fit if he's billed against Kanye haha

Daft Punks Lip Sweat

Seeing as how Grattan has said it's next Wednesday and he is most definitely in the know, I think it's safe to assume that it's on the Wednesday not the Thursday.

grattan

grattan said on the 4th Nov, 2011

If triple j is now saying that the announcement has has moved to Thursday then it has moved to Thursday. They get the exclusive rights to go first with announcements - it's some kind of secret government protected deal.

Florence would be one very red cherry on top of this BDO cake. Noel seems a bit too good to be true.
