Each March long weekend the picturesque fishing village of Port Fairy in Victoria comes alive for four days of music magic. Now entering it’s 35th year the Port Fairy Folk Festival features over 600 local and international act, playing across five main stages and dozens of satellite performance areas such as local churches, halls, streets, parks and markets.

In 2012 the festival will feature an eclectic lineup of folk, country, blues and jazz artists from the world’s most far-flung corners. Heading up the first announcement is legend of the original New York folk scene Judy Collins; international folk-blues master of song craft Eric Bibb in an exciting collaboration with one of Sweden’s best guitar players of all time, Staffan Astner.

There is also a wealth of local talent to be enjoyed with Lanie Lane, Jeff Lang and Mama Kin among the first to be confirmed on next year’s lineup.

Port Fairy truly is a special experience, which alongside all the musical magic features a, “Festival of The Streets, Festival Craft Fair, Food Festival, the Instrument Maker’s Exhibition, along with markets, buskers, theatre, workshops, sing-a-longs, special awards, street performances and much more.”
