The Tote 30th Birthday gigs

With the help of a few thousand passionate Victorians, Melbourne’s iconic Tote Hotel overcame seemingly insurmountable odds in 2010 to live on. When publican Bruce Milne announced the venue’s closure in January of last year the music community of Melbourne rallied behind it, to not only ensure the pub’s survival but also overhaul the state’s increasingly draconian liquor licensing laws.

After a teary farewell show and a six month closure The Tote triumphantly reopened in June
last year, under the new ownership of Andrew Portokallis, Jon Perring and Sam Crupi.

Over twelve months since it opened up its doors again The Tote is celebrating 30 years of live music with a month long celebration. Throughout November dozens of bands will play on evenings carefully curated by musicians, individuals and organizations who have supported and have played a part in shaping the unique identity of The Tote.
