Stonefest downscaled; dropsall indie and rock bands

Were you looking forward to seeing Jebediah, The Grates and The Vines at Stonefest? Or Josh Pyke, Jonathan Boulet and Stonefield?

Well there’s some bad news with the festival announcing that its has been forced to scale back and drop all the indie and rock bands from the lineup and focus on presenting a lineup of dance and hip hop acts.

The event has been rebranded as The Stonefest ‘Rock On’ Party and will now be headlined by The Aston Shuffle and Illy. Canberra University’s director of Campus Life Peter Dahl explains in the announcement that “Stonefest is not attracting as many people as seen in previous years, and we feel we cannot continue with the 2011 festival in its current format. This is an opportunity for us to present something different to the Canberra audience. So, to give our loyal supporters something to look forward to, we have decided to present a more intimate event, which still boasts a strong lineup of some of the best dance and hip hop artists in Australia today.”

So that means that Redcoats, Ball Park Music, Owl Eyes, Lanie Lane, Hunting Grounds, Big Scary, The Snowdroppers, The Bedroom Philosopher, Velociraptor and more will miss their trip to Canberra.

If you purchased a ticket by credit card you will receive an automatic refund, if you picked up your ticket by cash or EFTPOS you’ll need to return to the point of purchase with photo identification to obtain your refund.
