Limp Bizkit touring Australiain February?

Update::
IT’S TRUE!

Don’t try to pretend that you haven’t been wearing out your treasured copy of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (on limited edition brown vinyl) while waiting for the momentous day when Limp Bizkit would finally announce that they would return to Australia.

The band who last played in Australia on the 2001 Big Day Out tour have announced their plan to return early next year with Fred Durst revealing on Twitter earlier today that he’ll be in “Japan next week. Working on US tour middle/end of November. Australia in February. Bizkit rocks hard.”

It’s news that should certainly please the members of the misnamed “5000 Fans for Limp Bizkit to Tour Australia!” Facebook group, which actually only boasts 967 members, but where will their favourite red capped fool and his merry men actually be playing?

Limp Bizkit will hardly be welcome on the second Big Day Out lineup announcement as festival promoter Vivian Lees has declared that “Limp Bizkit will definitely not be performing [at] Big Day Out shows anywhere, ever.” And Soundwave head honcho has also ruled out booking the band for the Soundwave 2012 lineup saying that “there is no way in hell any festival in Australia would be stupid enough to book them again.”

as the creator of the group mentioned in this article i'm absolutely pumped about the prospect of limp bizkit touring in february.

a big thanks to the plug from faster louder for our facebook group.

yes i admit the title is a tad misleading, i would've liked more of the lbf down under to have joined to bring it up to the psychological 5000 member target, but if lb stick to their word and come here in february and i and many others see them in melbourne and other major cities, then that is all that matters :)

i encourage those lb fans that haven't joined the group already to do so!

by the by, i'm also a big fan of faith no more and iron maiden and was nice and close to the stage when these two bands played at soundwave in melbourne in 2010 & 2011, so with all due respect to the soundwave organisers, who have done a magnificent job in bringing some of the best bands to aus, they ought to put things into perspective. there's nothing "stupid" about having a band play at a festival if the security requests of the band (which are the norm for most festivals nowadays) are adhered to.

yes there was tragic incident involving the death of young girl back in 2001, there's no question that it was one death too many, but also remember there was an incident involving multiple low lives (not lb's fault) when limp bizkit played at woodstock 1999 in the us.

putting things into perspective, limp bizkit have played a lot of live shows in the usa since 1999 without incident, so i'd respectfully point out to bdo and soundwave organisers that important old saying "history is not destiny".

cheers
