More Falls sideshows: FleetFoxes and CANT

Following on from the announcement of Beirut’s sideshows this morning, fellow Falls artists Fleet Foxes and CANT have announced additional shows as well.

CANT aka Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor released his debut solo album Dreams Come True only last month. He will be joined in a live setting by a band made up of Dev Hynes, John Kirby (Sebastian Tellier’s band) and Guillermo Brown (Jamie Lidell).

Fans will be more than just a little bit excited to see Fleet Foxes play tunes from their new record Helplessness Blues “which steps up from the forest floor sounds of its predecessor in search of softer, broader, and at times, more psychedelic forms of folk.”

Monday 2nd January – Sydney Opera House, Concert Hall, Sydney
Tuesday 3rd January – Sydney Opera House, Concert Hall, Sydney
Wednesday 4th January – Sydney Opera House, Concert Hall, Sydney new show
Friday 6th January – Palais, Melbourne
Tuesday 10th January – The Tivoli, Brisbane new show
Wednesday 11th January – The Tivoli, Brisbane

you usually need to be signed up the newsletter for said venue. most have them, the enmore and palais both do in vic. not sure where you are, but depending where you are you may be able to sign up and still be sent a code. doubt it though.

the other way is have someone who has the code / link post it here. reasonably likely.

2 tickets @ $98 each for the stalls (when you factor in booking fee). It's more the "im paying 100 to see fleet foxes, then about 95 for bon iver and then about 175 for bdo, then however much SW + 2 Laneways will cost" that adds up :P

FF will still be awesome! I'm ecstatic they're playing on my b'day (was actually hoping they would) but it's just opera house have a higher charge for tickets but have a discount for their yearly members that brings it inline with other venue prices around the country. Wish I knew someone with a membership though.

with the sudden popularity of the SOH with indie bands i think a membership might be worth it. maybe split it with 2 or 3 people who are into similar music as you. i'm certainly looking into it.

same happened to me andy. refreshed right at 9:00, got tickets centre row c for the orchestra, then my internet decides to cut out, that or it 404'd me on the ticketmaster screen for apparently no reason. this is a shit day. row d in the lounge now. god damn it.

Yeah i didn't even get to that stage. Went on my phone, and that worked, got Row A - then realised it was lounge.
I still want to go but I really wanted it to be in the Orchestra so i could see them, and I can't purchase tickets on monday.

yeah. i'm really disappointed at that. though it isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. they really need a system for saving ticket purchasing progress. hell, even when you start buying a ticket and two minutes or whatever runs out on the timer, they will give the ticket away even though you might have 1 or 2 more minutes remaining. it's very frustrating.

from my experience it doesn't really matter. they're pretty much the same, only one is slightly elevated. for some reason ticketmaster seems to consider the lounge better though.

i've got a question about the presale. when they sell the tickets in presale, do they only sell a certain amount, say 25% or 50% of them? and then leave the remainder for the gp sale.

if so, is this from a range of seating areas. for example at the palais, will there still be orchestra seating available in the gp sale? or do they just sell whatever is there in the presale?

well i'm looking at the seating chart for the Jan 3rd show ( at SOH) and it seems like pretty much every seat is up for sale. most of the best ones seem to be taken already but there are tons of decent seats still left.

ended up getting a ticket for myself in Row J Stalls. it's the last seat in the row so half the lonely awkwardness albeit slightly crappy view haha. i had my eye on a seat in Row Q but it was right in the middle. don't quite smell nice enough to sit there by myself.

thats interesting considering there's still 300 or so tickets (all the cheap seats) left for the first two nights. there must be a lot of demand for the more expensive tickets.

is anyone else surprised that Bon Iver is much bigger than Fleet Foxes in australia? is it the Skinny Love effect? bon iver almost instantly sold out 3 nights at the tivoli whereas fleet foxes are struggling to fill one. i found 12 mates to go to Bon Iver with. going to fleet foxes alone.......

Bon Iver has had a pretty strong cult following for awhile, and it's cracked the mainstream too. Also, his album is far superior to the FF record from this year.

had a look at the Opera House website tonight and they're not selling Fleet Foxes tickets anymore. can't remember reading any announcements about the dates selling out so it's a bit of a surprise. most surprising is the fact that they're now selling standing tickets to all 3 shows for $94. wasn't aware there was any standing room at the SOH.
