Angry Anderson bound for gloryin Parliament

Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson has announced his intention to run for a seat in Federal Parliament as a member of The National Party, The Age reports.

Despite once being strongly affiliated with the left wing union movement, The Rose Tattoo frontman has made no secret of his distaste for the current Labor Party and their ‘Green Counterparts’. Heck, how could we forget these hard-hitting advertisements from last year:

Anderson has been commentating on political matters as an occasional columnist and avid blogger for some time now, however only officially signed up as a member of The Nationals last week. And while the party’s federal director Brad Henderson has said that preselection won’t be open for a few months, the National’s outspoken Senate leader Barnaby Joyce welcomed his new potential stable mate tweeting “Tried to get Angry to change his name to Assertively Agitated Anderson but no luck so here comes Angry.”

Anderson recently blogged his opposition on the government’s proposed carbon tax stating: “Do we really believe that this push for a TAX on Carbon pollution is about anything but raising more revenue for the government and the United nations…” And according to The Age Anderson may also be in opposition proposed pokies tax given that in 2009 he signed a deal to create a Rose Tattoo themed machine featuring the band’s music and Angry’s face.
