Kasabian and Laura Marlingfestival tours confirmed

After months of rumours about the Big Day Out and Laneway festival lineups we finally have two confirmations.

Kasabian have been strongly tipped to make their third appearance at the festival – following visits in 2007 and 2010 – and last month rumour fanatic Nui Te Koha assured us that the band had been locked in to play at the festival.

Based on Nui’s track record with rumours the ‘confirmation’ was no certain thing, however now Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has now confirmed the news in an interview with Adelaide street press magazine Rip It Up. “We’re doing the Big Day Out and I think we’re second before the headliners, which is amazing” Meighan spilled “I love it, man. We’re not on at 2.30pm in the fucking afternoon, which was horrendous.”

Another regular Australian visitor Laura Marling has been on many a rumour list for the Laneway festival, with the mysterious (yet fairly reliable) Miss Info tipped in August that Marling would be part of the lineup – with Twin Shadow, Wild Beasts, The Horrors and Thurston Moore.

Now Marling appears to have confirmed that she’ll be part of the Laneway bill. The editor of the West Australian’s entertainment lift out The Wire, Ben O’Shea, has announced on Twitter that “Laura Marling told us she’s playing St Jerome’s Laneway 2012!”. According his tweet tomorrow’s issue of The Wire will carry the direct quote from Marling.
